And I'm back. In short: I loved it.

It has it's flaws. I'll get them out first:
-some predictable plots, some predictable character traits
-it uses one plot point from the original trilogy that is quite often lampooned and I really wished they'd rewrite it a little better
-one very wooden performance
-emotionally inconsistent, in a span of 5 minutes they'd cram in humor, nostalgia, some more humor, suspense, brutal slaughter, humor, brutal slaughter, bonding of the new characters, a few more deaths, humor.... it goes to lighthearted to dark and then back waaaay toooo fast
-first order has something that works on Mofat physics.

-nostalgia note was heavy, but not overwhelming.

-story was once more shifted to a small group of people caught in a large scale galactic war that are also instrumental in the galaxies fate. No more politics and trade disputes. That may be the biggest ''original rip-off'', but if that didn't happen people would be crying ''that is not star warz'' Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Apart from that, it looks good, goes along nicely, didn't check my watch not once.
Performances were solid, except Harrison Ford was acting a bit senile, written as a joke to his age or was he realy senile at the set and they just went with it.
Humor, no comic relief (except Fords senility), no jar jar, no ewoks, no bumbling morons. Either occasional situational comedy or witty one liners/dialogues.
Effects are top notch, action scenes solid if not a bit too fast, the visual and sound of TIE vs X-wing was phenomenal.
Light saber duels, that one was the best of the previous films. No slow shuffle of the original trilogy, no over the top action scenes of the prequels. One on one, feet on the ground, parrying and striking where the opponent is vulnerable, no straight killing blow after a dance, but a search and exploitation of the opponents weakness and using it, even if it's not a KO.

Like I said before, if you'll go to relax and enjoy the movie, you'll love it. If you'll go in with a critic notebook searching for mistakes you'll hate it. But then again you'll hate every movie.

I didn't like it.

All the scenes/plot bits they took from the original (ie bar scene) were inferior. I really feel that they have downgraded the film to fit the "modern" audience.

I felt like they took the originals and upgraded it to the modern audiences.
It's as good as the originals with better visuals.

A guy just went down my road shouting....watch the new Star Wars its a vote for Donald Trump! :-?

Not actually seen it yet but how I suspect it will turn out.

How was the lens flare?

Non-existent ;)

I thought it was a great movie. The initial battle between the Resistance and the First Order was amazing, and, despite the small scale, one of the best battles in all of Star Wars. And any fears about BB-8 being a robot Jar Jar are immediatley crushed, as he proves his usefulness in his very first frame!

Also, bring tissues with you to the cinema.

Concur with most of this ^^^^ Just got home from seeing it with my youngest. We had a great time.

The new characters are great, which is a huge plus going forward. Rey, Finn and Poe have great chemistry. Love BB8 and Snoke is very well done. Kylo Ren was good, lots of potential. Neat to see the old cast as well.

General Hux I thought was over the top and I expected Capt. Phasma to be more of a bad ass, but I am sure that will come in the next films.

Will see it again in the theatre :yep:

Yeah, I really thought she'd go a few rounds fist fighting with one of our heroes. That would be epic.
Gwendoline Christie knows how to make a presence in a scene
