Good deal Beery!

Bravo Zulu

I suppose I should stick to the WW2 alphabet, so make that,

Baker Zebra.

Beery, firstly let me add my condolances for your recent loss. I hope you and your family can find some comfort in the thought that all of you are in my, and I'm sure everyone here on the forum's prayers.

I am enjoying your RFB, and like the changes that it brings to the game. If I may make a suggestion; If it is at all possible, and of coarse if the other modmakers agree, in your next edition to RFB could you include mods like the "slower smoke mod", and the "Radar Fix Mod". I know these are offered as seperate mods, or as part of the (FTT?) mod. It would be nice to have everything in one mod, nice and neat. Keep up the good work!

Good going.

I was in the 'Korean conflict' and the semaphore alphabet was I think the same as WWII ( at least for the U.S. ): Able-Baker-Charlie-Dog-Easy-Fox-George-How-Item-Jig-King-Love-Mike-Nan-Oboe -Peter-Oueen-Roger-Sugar-Tare-Uncle-Victor-William-Xray-Yoke-Zebra.

I could be a little wrong here ( but I don't think so ) as this is from memory ( about 4 gigs short  ) and was long ago.

These guys may have did it a little different and were considered the best: "Navajo code talkers-forgotten heroes of WWII", they can be found at http://toto.lib.unca.edu/sr_papers/s...oenig_matt.htm

Bravo Zulu or Baker Zebra, in the USN = Well Done
Bravo Zulu or Baker Zebra, in the RN = Manoeuvre well executed (Same thing really)

But RN has Bravo Xray = Splice the Mainbrace :()1:
USN just has another cup of coffee.

My condolances on the loss of your mother

Deepest sympathy with you and your family

I will add the slow smoke mod, assuming Scoochy gives me the thumbs-up.

As for the radar fix I'm confident that the devs will fix the radar soon (or at least eventually) so I'm wary of adding a mod that I'll have to take out at a later date. Also, I'm trying to make the mod as bare-bones as possible this time around (at least until all official patches are done with) for two main reasons:

1. Adjusting mods after each new official patch is a royal pain in the butt.

2. JSGME makes large-scale "super mods" virtually pointless, except where conflicting mods are concerned.

Installed the new mod and started a new career. Got a Gar Class boat. Made a trim dive after leaving Fremantle, no problems. Approaching Lombok Straight, in stormy weather, had to dive for aircraft contact. Had problems surfacing, weather still stormy, would reach surface and then drop back to 30 or 40 feet. Porpoised for some time, emergency blow did not help, eventually went to full ahead to hold on surface. Once fully surfaced cut back to 2/3 and down we went again! Got back on top and continued at full ahead for 30 mins game time. Slowed to 2/3 and all okay this time. Could this be the mod, or is it just something weird in the game?

It's a good mod by the way, just wondering about my boat's erratic behaviour.

Beery 04-30-07 04:39 PM

I noticed something similar the other day, also in stormy seas, but it was on a boat that had been damaged so I figured that must have been the problem. I had to run at full speed to keep fully surfaced. The only thing I've changed that could have any impact on this is the wave height, but I'm not sure how that could affect a boat's ability to stay surfaced. I'll check into it.

perisher 04-30-07 05:08 PM

My boat was 100% intact. I suppose it could be something in the game but I've surfaced in storms before without this problem.

Beery 04-30-07 07:49 PM

I did an update to the readme that needed to be fixed ASAP in order to give proper credit and I happened to already have another mod in RFB so I've released it as 1.22. The feature that's added is the slow smoke mod.

It may be something caused by the water change I made, but I guess there's a good chance it's a standard game bug too. Better safe than sorry, so if everyone who wants to help out could keep an eye on how the boats act after surfacing in storms that would be a great help.

I have a huge problem maintaining periscope depth in an S-class. Waves are choppy but I wouldn't call it a storm. I'm getting depth variances of +/- 12 feet or so, which at periscope depth can be...embarassing.

RFB and the Deck Gun...

Hey all,
First of all let me say much thanks to Beery (sorry if thats misspelled). RFB is an excellent mod and I'm loving it... The time that went into it and the time in which he got it out to us was incredible.

However, as many have noted the Deck Gun reload times are somewhat horrendous, albeit they may be very realistic.. and that was what the mod was intended for....

35 seconds to reload a shell is just tooo much for me..

So Im wondering if there is anyone out there who could tell me where to find the code.. and how I could edit it myself.. if that is possible.

Thanks
