Hi everyone,
First I would like to say thanks to the GWX team for producing an awesome mod! I was really looking forward to enjoying playing it, but unfortunately I have been suffering constant CTDs, mainly on the map screen. I have read the other threads and have seen that others have experienced the same problems. I had no problems playing GW 1.1a which was very stable, and ran like a charm on my PC for many months, but now that I have installed GWX I have yet to complete a patrol due to the CTD issue. I have tried reducing the graphical toll by turning down the graphic settings, and I have installed the Lite Harbor Traffic Mod to see if that helps, and so far I am still consistently getting these crashes. I have checked all of my bin files and exe and have confirmed that I have a good install. I have even reinstalled GWX to see if that helps. Nada... I am pretty sure it wouldnt have anything to do with SH3 Commander 2.7, which I also use (with GWX config files). I dont seem to have a reduced frame rate but I suppose it might be possible that my PC cant handle the additions that GWX adds. Hopefully someone might have a suggestion/fix so I can get up and running again and sink something! Thanks mates.
Here are My PC (laptop) Specs:
1.79 Ghz, AMD 64, 1 GB Ram, ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200

Just a thought, run GWX without SH3 commander and see if it persists. If the CTD is gone, then I would suspect SH3 is creating the issue. Go on from there.

Thanks mate, I will try that.

I am getting that Eror! thing with some bases/folitillas too. I cant play in the Pac.

I have had a couple of weird things happening. Before I start I checked out the downloads for corruption and received green ticks all round.

I was being attacked by something off Ireland. Sound there, everything OK except keyboard dead, and then CTD.

Attacked by aircraft in Meddie in CN66. Keyboard completely dead. No CTD.

I have never had this problem in SHIII before.

Any ideas please?

Hi, did you remove the GW 1.1a SHIII folder from 'My Documents' prior to installing and trying 'GWX' ?

Problems with transfer

HI and thanks for taking this up,
As far as I remember I clicked on the phone Icon, the transfer screen opens, I clicked on the flotilla I wanted to join, there were only two choices as it was still early in the war. When I clicked on the chosen transfer the Tansfered to Null message came up and you know the rest.

After returning from my sith patrol in March 1940 I thought I would see if I could transfer to one of the other flottillas. When I hit the request transfer button I got, Crew transfered to Null, and the game froze, I had to reboot the whole PC to get things going again.

I remember a problem like this ages ago and am wondering if it has returned

I seem to remember getting that myself a while ago
I know it sounds simple but did you choose a flotilla to transfer to and then on the phone to apply for that transfer ?

Did you delete your "SH3" folder in "My Documents" prior to installing GWX?

This is not an issue but a guestion on Radio Messages. I'm seeing alot of Uboats requesting escort to base and message that escort is in position. Nice touch btw. I'm wondering if it's possible... not now but down the road maybe... to do the same with player's Uboat and actually see an escort arrive and escort player back to base. I imagine the request is due to damaage and the Uboat is unable to defend it's self, is out of fuel or damaged and needs a tow.

Could this be possible? If not no problem, but it sure is different and quite nice to see the invisible friendlies having problems and needing help.

Just torped the HMS Revenge in Scapa Flow (I know you hate me for going in there) and she was struck by 2 torpedoes and burning and giving that wreck creaking sound.
But she wont move one inch towards the bottom and no credit is given.

bigboywooly 12-20-06 06:43 PM

They are historical messages
lol
Seems even in RL they suffered not just GWX :rotfl:

Maybe possible to have a ship that meets you
Its a question of getting the timing right thats all and where you are coming from

She may be sat on the bottom
The ship needs to go below water and at a certain point the game classes it as sunk
You will have to blow it up now

Tis a stock bug and a pain in the @ss
I dont think the harbours are modelled deep enough

I'm familiar with this problem and checked with the external camera, that ship is still afloat.
