Good morning Subsim, Basically there are two area's the Recognition Manual and museum will collect names from. The first is within the Data / Roster / names.cfg. As with this FotRSU beta, alot of the ship names are missing so... The ship name will now be pulled from the Data / Roster / Nation / Sea / vessel cfg. and will use the class name as stated: [UnitClass] ClassName=DDShimakaze This is also true for the Air names. Good morning Rockin Robbins... lots of reading to catch up on, eh?... :lol: I'm noodling with the "life boats" this morning, trying to adjust things a pinch. I wish there was an easier way to see what tweaking a digit by a thousandth at a time does to a lifeboat on the water... :doh: In the meantime, does anyone know which boat is which, for certain? I'm "educated" guessing that NLifeboat_02 is the big wooden lifeboat, since that's what changes with Privateer's mod added-in, but I'm not sure about the NLifeboat_01, just guessing that it's actually the life raft that is carrying the survivors of a ship's sinking, and that the CMD_small_boat is the "Commandoes'" supply raft?... |
Your correct about the life boats.
CMD is the commando/supply unit. Oh and yes. The NLifeboat_02 is the one I modded long ago. |
Jeff-Groves is now a member of our happy crew. This ship porting from SH3 and the names craziness were the source of much friction between the GWX team and Aces of the Deep. Final analysis clearly shows that GWX got it right and we can now show that FOTRS.......well.......it kinda works, but not necessarily correct with ship names missing from rosters and the like.
Nothing unfixable! Thank God S7rikeback and Jeff-Groves are here to help sort it all out. Remember, for the core mod correcting is okay. Adding content or changing ship names isn't. We'll have plugin mods for adding more ships, renaming existing ships and the like. Please keep mods single purpose and in JSGME format so we can mix and match with wild abandon. Hey CapnScurvy! Haven't heard from you in awhile! Everything okay with you? And again, thanks to the entire crew. Things are happening that I could never have done on my own and FOTRS Ultimate is shaping up to be greater than my vision of the mod ever was! |
Got the beta downloaded.
I suspect I should go through the Units and correct any that are not to SH4 standards 1st? By that I mean the Units that do not have the proper render controllers and such. |
We kinda gotta hear from CapnScurvy in order to find out what all he worked on fershure fersertin in that regard... He worked on some of German capital ships, but I do not recall which ones (the skinless DD was one that's "fixed"), and I cannot find the post where he mentions it... maybe as much as halfway back, but probably closer to a third... I'll keep digging. btw, welcome aboard Jeff-Groves.

I have the version dated August 11.
I can scan everything in about 2 minutes to give me a list of suspect Units. Then I can bring in the big 'guns' to correct them in minutes. :03: |
