I am glad I don't text and doubly glad my phone does not accept texting.
1. You take a device that was already optimized for the transmission and reception of the spoken word.... which happens to be one of the more natural and efficient ways of communication... using a language that we alreay use in our everyday life..
2. Decide, no, that's not a good idea, what we need to do is put a typewriter type keyboard on it and and instead of speaking, the user has to then manually type out each word... even though people can speak and listen much faster than they can type and read...
3. Even though this means moving away from a small but capable system of microphones and speakers to a larger device that needs buttons big enough to be able to hit... with some level of accuracy and a screen large enough to be able to read text.
4. Make it so cumbersome that the original idea of typing the language was impractical so that a special non-standardized language of shortened words needed to be developed in order to make the concept work...
and for some reason the term moronic is not immediately attributed to this effort?
