This was a happy surprise TOON served their supporters.

I was not expecting the TOON would win to be honest, maybe a draw or on goal up(like 0-1) if they were lucky.

I guess it has to do with two things.

1. Man U played like they already had won the match-I got the feeling like they weren't really up to it.

2. TOON played very well, they had some misses but the goalkeeper kept them above the surface.

As I see it the TOON need to work on two major things and one smaller thing.
Their defense and their offense need improvement-
Their Midfield need little improvement.

Only one thing needs working on Markus and that is the exit strategy for Mike Ashley.

Fantastic atmosphere in St James' yesterday. Congrats on a vital three points.

POOL got a fine win, with two exquisite goals from Firmino and Salah. They sit third, two points behind United, two ahead of Spurs and four ahead of Chelsea. I want to believe they'll see it through, would be great to get automatic qualification for the CL. If they continue to play this way then it's possible. But we all know they can flatter to deceive.

The run in looks manageable, with trips to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge appearing the most difficult. The rest of their remaining matches are winnable. TOON visit POOL March 3.

First up though is the tie with Porto. Can't wait.

But the wait was worth it. Wow. Irrepressible.

Even Liverpool will have trouble surrendering this lead. Fantastic night in Portgual eh?

Yep, a fantastic performance :yep:

I watched that match, and have seen most of Liverpool's matches this season. The interplay between the forwards is so impressive, fantastic teamwork, selflessness, spirit. Of course they are not an elite team, because they have issues at the back, and certainly in goal. Perhaps Allisson will be the answer should Klopp be able to bring him in. Keita should be an instant upgrade in the center of the park, but that's all for the future.

The point I was eventually going to come to is... having watched Liverppol's match, and the PSG-Madrid match, it was striking how different things are. Teamwork, especially among the attacking tridents at Real and PSG, is non-existent.

You'd think Neymar and Cavani are on different teams, for the amount of interplay between them, as Neymar attempts to dribble past every opponent. And Ronaldo didn't pass to Benzema once. Not one time! How is that even possible?

Liverpool have a strong team collective, and though I fear the holes in the side may prove fatal, there may not be another team left in the competition playing as well at the moment. Could Liverpool win it?

After fifteen minutes against Bristol C and I began to think is my 5£ for Strachan still eligible. However Leeds managed to pull off a quite remarkable come back. Too bad Lasogga hit the bar during last minutes...

Hopefully problems are gone and playoffs are still achievable...

Jimbuna 02-19-18 10:10 AM

Eight points away from a playoff place is no small ask but there are still a considerable number of points to be played for.

Meanwhile.....mackems go down 0-2 at home to Brentford :)

Obltn Strand 02-23-18 05:23 AM

How one simple win can be so damn elusive? Twice it has been so close. A pinball equalizer...

Jimbuna 02-23-18 06:43 AM

Mackems went down 0-1 at Bolton on Tuesday so now firmly anchored at foot of the table and the owner has offered the club to anyone for free so laong as they are prepared to underwrite what is possibly £170 million of debt.

Obltn Strand 02-23-18 08:21 AM

Last time I checked asking price had dropped from 100 million to 50. Now it's free...besides the debt...confusing...

I remember Leyton Orient being on sale för 5£....

Jimbuna 02-23-18 08:45 AM

Two of Sunderlands biggest problems are declining attendances (insufficient income to service the debt interest) and too many mediocre players on Premiership wages (Rodwell for example is on £70,000 per week and is just about refusing to play).

If Liverpool beat West Ham and TOON come out victorious at Bournemouth we could end up mid-table.

'If' , often being the biggest word.

Jimbuna 02-24-18 11:13 AM

TOON lead 2-0 at half time :yeah:
