For the record, in case people missed it:

What does it mean for the WAC5.0 user?

1. The WAC campaigns are split up into two campaigns: WAC5.0 Campaign_Atlantic_Baltic+WAC5.0 Campaign_Mediterranean (only one campaign can be used at a time)
2. It is possible with WAC5.0 to use the new full interior mod (WAC5.0 Full_Interior) of the u-boats, but NOT together with a widescreen mod (WAC5.0 Ahnenerbe Wide GUI or WAC5.0 Manos Wide GUI)
3. Additional modifications (ships, airplanes, harbours, etc.) CAN cause a CTD with WAC5.0, if the RAM usage is beyond the maximum

I am sorry to report that SH3 with WAC 5.0 is unusable to me. I'm on Windows 10, with a steam version that I've multi-installed using SFSF.

The first time the game initiated a reboot of my computer when I tried loading into a career. The second time I managed to get into the game but the game remained paused and only the GUI was visible but no interior or exterior view.

To me it was easier than GWX.

First, make sure you have clean, unmodded version 1.4 of SH3.
To ensure that, uninstall current version, and manually delete SH3 folder and SH3 folder in MyDocuments.

-Install clean version

-apply 4GB patch

-install JSGME for SH3. MODS folder in main SH3 directory will appear

-UNZIP first of WAC archives into MODS folder. Check if WAC folder within mods folder has the proper size and amount of folders and files, according to WAC install manual pdf.

-activate with JSGME

unzip other mods to MODS folder and activate via JSGME as needed.

Which step did you ommit?

I tried installing it with the H.Sie fixes (enabling 4Gb options, and disabling someones like the periscope fix), instead using 4Gb patch. My game crashes a lot. How do you use the H.Sie fixes?

If your pc reboots when you start a game, it can be an indication that your power supply is either too weak, old, or damaged.

It is important that you guys with problems post your:
  • PC SPECS (like graphics card + CPU + RAM + OS)
  • Your JSGME mod list

1. Look inside "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder for "Patch_SH3.bat".
2. Put "sh3.exe" (from game folder) into "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder.
3. Activate "Patch_SH3.bat". (A black window opens, keep pressing space bar).
4. Activate "HsieOptionsSelector.exe" (inside "H.sie_V16B1-Patch-Kit" folder).
5. Choose the options you like and click "OK" (bottom left).

6. Put "sh3.exe" back into SH3 game folder.
7. Activate the mods you like:

nope, this is an excellent rig! However, when your computer suddenly shuts down once you load game or a progam that stresses your system, it is usually an indication for faulty hardware or a driver related issue:

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/window...ithout-warning

Some years ago, I had a faulty gtx 470, for example, that kept rebooting my computer whenever I tried to play any games.. After I bought a new card everything worked as intended..

If other games work on your system without your PC suddenly rebooting, I sadly have no idea what your problem is..

Maybe try to google the error code?:

ValoWay, thanks for your detailed reply. I already did know how to install H.Sie with other super mods or vanilla, but my question was about which order I should use, or if I could use it with mediterranean or no campaign.

Anyway you answer it all, thank you, except if I can use it with no campaign mod - using them are too slow to load, and I don't want to live again the slow load time I had with my old Spectrum :)

HanSolo recommends to NOT use campaign mod when you encounter CTDs! So no problem skipping the campaign mod but play anyway! For the 'WAC5.0 Campaign_Mediterranean' mod you have to write your own 'WAC5.0 H.sie Supplement to V16B1_Mediterranean_Campaign' mod if you wanna use 'WAC5.0 Campaign_Mediterranean' with H.Sie's fixes, just like for GWX3 et cetera.

WAC ships displacement values

Hello,
I'm glad that this mod was finally released. It's visual quality and features never seen before made me back to SH3 after few years break and I doubt if there will be any better mod than this. However...
I never played previous WAC versions so I'm little confused about in-game ship displacements in this mod. In my current campaign I torpedoed HMS Renown during Weserubung operation. In my log she was rated as ~48000 tons and I belive this is over estimated. Later, I went to the museum to look at all ships and I found "Large Fast Merchant" rated at 17600 GRT - but she didn't look like. I started diging...
I made mission with few ships close to each other to compare their dimmensions. I assumed that HMS Renown model exported from SH5 by Rowi58 is correct and her dimmensions are close to real one. Then I compared this dimensions to other ships:

http://i67.tinypic.com/xdy3rk.png

To estimate tonnage I used formula by U.S. Coast Guard, which was implemented in one of addon charts in SH5. Some of the values I used are my estimation and error is more that sure. However, it's clearly, in comparsion to ship like T2 tanker, which is pretty close to real, that the model of "Large Fast Merchant" is way to small to be a... large merchant, and 17600 GRT tonnage is ridiculus. On the oposite side there is T3 tanker model, which is I belive SH5 export, and that ships is way to long and to wide compared to real, but it looks like close to 20000 GRT ship in game compared to others and also in game she is rated as 18300 GRT.

I think I'm going to edit the values of ships displacement for my purposes. Question is how current values have been calculated? Because in some cases they are way to big I think.

Oh yeah, I don't disagree that it's usually an indication of something being seriously wrong with the power or hardware. However this is the first unexpected shutdown of the computer.

I did take a look at the event log. I didn't see anything suspicious under 'system', only that an unexpected shutdown took place, apparently it went so fast it couldn't even take a memory dump.

In the 'application' section however I found this:

Here's something you might wanna read:https://compfreakstars.blogspot.de/2...-day-many.html

I. Try a modern 'free to play' game like warthunder, for example: https://warthunder.com/en/game/

to test if your computer shuts down here too as soon as your system has to handle something graphically intensive..

(If you don't have any other games available besides SH3. Or try to play SH3 without mods for an hour or two to test if PC reboots or not?)

II. Install latest windows drivers: Version 1709:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/check-...-in-windows-10
https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...ch.aspx?q=1709

III. Install 'ccleaner' to clean your hard drive and registry:https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

(when you clean registry the program will ask you if you want a backup or not? It's strongly recommended to do that!)

iV. 'Display driver Uninstaller' is a nice tool to make sure graphics card drivers are installed properly:https://www.guru3d.com/files-details...-download.html

It will help you to completely get rid of old graphics card driver leftovers before you install a new one.

V. To test your RAM you can use Memtest86:
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/...-test-ram.html
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to...dware-problems

Vi. Use your antivirus software to scan for viruses and malware:
https://www.malwarebytes.com/
https://www.kaspersky.com/free-antivirus

Now, all of that is of course only necessary when your computer regularly reboots whenever you start a hardware demanding program like a video game. Since you said that it never happened before there's probably no reason to be overly concerned..

YellowFin 10-22-17 06:57 AM

I have run other graphics intense games successfully, I have been running SH3 for many hours on end with LSH3 2015. I have no reason to believe I have faulty hardware.

You might be onto something though with the GPU driver. I did down and upgrade to test different settings as I couldn't start SH3 properly. Right now I'm on the latest NVIDIA driver for my GPU. In another thread where i am trying to get LSH3 2015 to run again (bc I broke it somehow) I got the advice to downgrade again. So I will try to get SH3 with LSH3 2015 to run, and when that works I'll try to get WAC 5.0 to run as well.

Thanks for your help so far.

ValoWay 10-22-17 07:20 AM

Yup, not every Nvidia driver works for everyone. Driver: 384.94 doesn't work on my computer, for example!

Here:https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/

people usually comment on the newest drivers and discuss if they are good or not.
