Only 40 years ago.......:yep:

Admittedly the vision in this clip is from Japan, but the evocative sentiments in it are strong. I think they could apply to any big city in the west in the '80s.

I remember the '80s very well, having 2 jobs, slogging my guts out, most of my pay going on rent, living in a big noisy city ( still do ). But on the plus side while none of my peers had much money it went a lot further, things were cheaper. Cafes and restaurants stayed open till late at night, not shut early like they do now. And there was a lot more of them, now you have to hunt to find a good one that's still open/not closed down. :wah: The food was good and cheap, compared to now.

Even Macdonalds had a different menu with stuff you can't get now, really good fried chicken ( not those unmentionable nuggets they sell now ), tasty attractive salads in tupperware/reusable boxes with whole ( not shredded ) lettuce, cucumber chunks ( not slices ), celery, ham chunks and a whole boiled egg, all for under $3 !!!!!

There was no Internet, no Mobile phones :) , no one ringing you up trying to swindle you out of your life savings. Now your whole life's Online/accessible to all the scumbag cyber crims that have arisen.

There was no Woke, it hadn't yet been nightmared into fruition, but the Champagne Socialist/Cafe society set were working on it.......

Cars were good too. Countries in the West still had local manufacturing and were more or less self reliant and produced good stuff. there were hardly any beggars, not like now. Electricity was cheap and plentiful.

People knew where they stood, you could plan for the future and it looked Golden. But what happened???????

We've been white-anted by Marxist academics, a whole generation or 2 have been brainwashed by traitors, and we're now living in a Bulls... society.

Feeling a bit peeved, are we?...

Now, if you could just set that to music...:03:

........just a bit :) Getting old, living in the past. The French expression "La Belle Epoque" comes to mind...the good times/golden age is always in the past.

I remember ( here we go "old/speak" ) going to the Civic Hotel, Grand Hotel, etc back in the late 70s to see Punk bands like Proud Scum, Kaos, Rejex , Suicide Squad, etc, all old age pensioners now :yep: You could get blotto for $2, drinks were dirt cheap, and cough syrup was then VERY strong. And Pogo the night away.

Edit. I seriously miss Macca's boiled eggs, they were special good.

What a coincidence! Just today I was discussing INXS with a co-worker.

Small world, I guess. They did have a lot of good hit songs. Tragic story about Michael Hutchence, the lead singer, though.
