But truth be told they just don't come any cockier than fighter pilots. Good thing egos don't have physical weight or they'd never get their birds off the ground! :)

One of my old circle of friends was a former detective. He told me once that motorcycle cops are convinced they are the best thing on earth. Then he met some fighter pilots and came to the conclusion that bike cops only think they're the best. Fighter jocks know they're the best. :dead:

I once had the job of driving some Saudi aircrew training at Hill AFB up to Jackson Hole for a rafting trip, along with a couple of US escorts. The mechanics behaved like good Muslims - refusing to eat at the diner, cooking their own food, making sure prayers were said. The pilots? They acted like fighter pilots - yelling out comments on the girls we saw, talking about how great they were and generally acting like people everywhere who are certain the world was put there just for them. :sunny:

Not WWII but a great plane of its era nonetheless

OOOHHHH! I love the F-86 Sabre!

I'd love to see one of those fly one day. The early jets were pretty darn cool. I like the F-84 and the F9F too.

Eh...not so much...

Spy planes never really caught my interest. Wooo...this one goes fast and high so it can take pictures.... :shifty: Kind of anticlimactic.

I like planes that carry ordnance...whether it be Paratroopers or Nuclear Weapons.

Now in the Ubisoft game HAWX....the SR-71 carries missiles...and can outrun them when you punch the throttle.

You can say that again and Navy fighter pilots are the most cocky of all.

By the ring around his eyeball
You can tell a bombardier;
You can tell a bomber pilot
By the spread around his rear,
You can tell a navigator
By his sextants, maps and such
You can tell a fighter jockey
BUT YOU CAN'T TELL HIM MUCH!

My favorites- from the ETO it would be the Beaufighter

And the JU 88 G6 Night Fighter

From the PTO- I always liked the looks of the "Birdcage" Corsair

and the F6F Hellcat

And kind of probably one of the most deadliest missions in the Cold War...

While that is true....it doesn't mean I have to be forcibly shoved into interest for the U-2 or the SR-71.

They aren't bad planes. They are extremely important...but I just don't have as much interest for them as I do other planes.
