Well done Alonso:yeah:,
Srew RBR with that lousy Team order at the very end
:rock:Awesome defence from Hamilton in the last corner now that's how you race and defend your position.

great race overall, lots of stuff going on.

Good race but clearly not great.

when webber was told... ''keep the pace/distance''( or something similar as i was hearing greek commenting and was able to hear only someting like that), i can say that is one of the saddest moment i had experienced as for my point of view/opinion the words motorsport and grand prix lost their meaning . however i was able to see only last bit of race. teh button incident i think was a great facepalm ( i was amazed of his character for his response to the radio)

Jimbuna 07-10-11 10:19 AM

Not a bad race overall...well done Alonso.

Agreed.

At least someone other than Vettel won. Pity Mark couldn't get/wasn't allowed past him!:nope:

Not a good day for Button - three wheels on his wagon......:damn:

Mike.

Webber ignored the team orders but simply found no way past. At least he claims that.

To be honest, If I were in the same position, I would have made the same call. Last lap, you've got two cars on the podium and one is looking to pass the other. With the way Webber was on Vettel's arse, all it would have taken is a simple lock going into a corner on those worn tires and then bang, goodbye, zilcho points. I don't think it was in favour of Vettel, I think they just wanted to bring both cars back in one piece and get the points. Still must have been bloody frustrating for Webber though.

Jimbuna 07-12-11 03:04 AM

It seems awful coincidental to me that whenever such orders are given they are invariably always in favour of whichever driver is topping the points table.

Flaxpants 07-13-11 02:10 AM

That radio message to Webber really hacked me off.....it's nothing new I know, but come on.....is this motor racing anymore?

I'm happy 'he' didn't win again, simply on account of livening this year up a bit....

Talking of motor racing- did anybody see the GP2 race afterwards? Now that was a race.

The more I watch this season the more I dislike all the ridiculous rules and hearing radio coms. at least Alonso was reserved - better than Vettel 'WOOOOHOOOO YEEEAAAAAHHHH, YES, YES, THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, OHHHHH YEEEEEEHHAAAAAAA' like an overexited child. Qualifying is an absolute joke now it was novel at first but I am yearning for a traditional 2 day 2 hours each plenty of time to see who is really the fastest. Also funny isn't it after a recent rule change, Ferrari and Red Bull cars seem about even, Mclarens are now significantly slower than them. I don't mind that it keeps the big teams competing, BUT - Renault have obviously really suffered with this - where were they? battling with Sauber etc... when they were up with the best of the rest as it were, seems a little unfair to them if you ask me. Also, why dissallow something that is technically simple while allowing hideously complex and expensive systems like KERS. Bernie and FIA have their heads wedged firmly up each others backsides and they're screaming 'We'll never pull them out!' Sheesh... now we have team strategy being affected by radio coms being broadcast - not to mention Pirelli tyre monopoly, aswell as being pressed to make tyres that wear out quicker !!?!??!? 10 or so laps (whats that 25 miles max?) and then they're gone is absoulutely ludicrous.

Anyway, the Silverstone GP - Well done Alonso great drive. Well done Hamilton, the best Mclaren could hope for and apart from you the other top 6 positions were decided completely by pit stops/pit crew screw ups. Vettel is looking decidedly shaky ATM when he gets someone close up to him he starts twitching all over the place even when its his team mate. Also he doesn't seem to have the willpower/ability to overtake. He always gets a good start etc.. so quite often he dosn't need to I guess. That boy needs to spend some time being beat though or he'll never be able to do it. Really feel for Webber in that 'team' He's a good driver and at Turkey, and Silverstone he IS quicker than Vettel. I hope he dosn't quit after redbull but I can't see him wanting to stay on in a less competitive team and I can't see him staying on with redbull now either.

I remember a race where Mansells pit crew failed to properly attach the right rear, of course being the rear he didn't realise til he got out on the track... At least Button didn't have to experience that but yeah I'd be fuming if I were him. Still, these things will happen. Oh yeah Force India need to sort their stuff out, Diresta was holding his own in 7th until their wrong tyres screw up. That sort of screwup shouldn't ever happen.

Well good on Webber then, another few laps he'd have got him. It would bug me so much if I didn't have to hear it. Personally I think they should ban pit to car radio and go back to pit boards. Or even just a display on your wheel that gives the gap to the guy in front and the gap to the guy behind every time you cross the line. or something. Maybe I watch next one with sound off, its not as though I'd be missing much.

TarJak 07-24-11 05:16 AM

Webber gets another pole position with Hamilton on 2 and Vettel on 3. will be interesting to see who gets the jump at the start.

Go Webber! You've had the Wallabies and Cadel Evans to inspire you already this weekend.
