Hi all,
I've been looking forward to getting SH5, even though I've heard alot of negative things. Been playing SH5 all day today and can say that its better than I was led to beleive. Still needs alot of work tho. Hopefully the Devs release some good patches that fix most of the bugs and missing content. :yep: Hopefully SH5 can be turned into SH3 GWX, with that bautiful graphics engine. thats what im hoping for anyhow. I've always been into simultion games. mostly Formula one and flight sims. Then in 1990 i discovered Silent Service II and was instantly hook on subsims. I have been playing Silent Hunter 3 for the last 5 or so years. I've never managed to complete it. Usualy end up getting killed. Damn that GWX team. :O: Good Hunting. J.Williams :salute: |
Hi, everybody.
Well, I'm Silent Hunter fan for a couple years now. I got SHIII by an accident, just stepped into it while searching for another game. I remembered that my grandfather used to play SHI or SHII when I was young, so I had to give it a try :) As for now, of course bought SHV as soon as it was available in Poland. A little bit dissapointed I am, but still I am sure Ubisoft won't leave us crying, and modders will do the glorious job of making it a simulator again (I want to start modding it myself). And that would be it. :) Cheers and good hunting! |
Hello
My name is Johnny,i´m 46y/o and i live in Sweden.
My introduction to subsims was Silent Service on Nintendo NES,I played multiplayer with a friend of mine.(Meaning both of us sitting in front of the tv discussing an upcoming problem on the horizon :)) I got my first PC 1997,playing mostly Silent Hunter,Red Alert and Myst on that machine with a 15" CRT...now i´m playing SH5 on a 26" LCD,so things have improved a bit in 13 years :D. I would also like to send a big Thank you to all the sharp brains out there, that dig deep and modify the gamefiles to improve our journey on and under the sea. |

Long time lurker, silent appreciator of the game-saving magicians that make my entertainment worth the money I spent on it. Without you guys, I would never have stood in my living room in front of my big screen TV (I play on an Alienware laptop with HDMI), in my boxers and a white captain's hat, a bottle of Jager in one hand, and binoculars in the other, humming Westerwald and yelling at Bernard, with the sounds of sea spray and diesel engines shaking the pictures off my wall through a 1000W surround sound home theater system. I am also a technical/deep wreck diver who has a special place in his heart for shipwreck archeology. Not only have I stood watch on the bridge, walked between the diesels, manned the deck gun, and crammed myself into the torpedo tubes of a half a dozen U-boats, I've also seen "ship caustic effects" on a T3 tanker - up close and personal. http://www.theblacksheep.org/gallery/penetration2.jpg Neat little hole my ass! If you have any questions about shipwrecks, feel free to ask. More than likely I've touched it, most especially if it is in the Outer Banks. |

Hi, motorcycling psychiatrist from Wales likes simulations that involve torpedo shapes (oo-er missus!). Played silent service II years ago and seawolf - just bought SH5 on impulse, had to buy a new pc to run it, then a video card-- but its going now :) cant wait for them to finish it lol.

Hi My name is Andy. Wolfgang or Wolf in game. I have been a Silent hunter gamer since the begining. Just love Sim games. Am Heavily into Flight Sims as well Work with Her Majesties Coastguard and live on the East Coast in Norfolk (No Jokes about tractors Please)
I must admit I am a little dissapointed with the new game and it needs a lot of work done on it but i know the brave band of Modders who work tirelessly without pay to make this game playable and enjoyable. Think that Ubisoft should hire these guys and pay them for all their hard work Wolf |
Hi,
conus00 reporting! My name is Libor, 36-years-old born and raised in former Czechoslovakia. Moved to the USA when I was 25 and still living here. Recently resident of Ohio but planning on moving to Tampa, FL at the end of May. Graphic designer by trade but have been recently making living by officiating ice-hockey. Big hobbies are playing games and building models of submarines. I was dead set on NOT buying SHV but I got my hands on copy for $16 so I couldn't pass. Got it mostly for modding though. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/k...0/DSC01843.jpg |
What king of model Submarines? I build them too. Radio controlled.
Welcome aboard. I have been playing the game off and on all week and I haven't had many problems at all and the game runs smooth. conus00 visit my web site and take a look at my subs. www.sneillfx.com Enjoy, Steve AKA in game: U812 |

Gosh, will anyone bother to read this far? Hello y'all. You will guess ( I hope) from my screen name that I am a lady - not many of us on here, but don't get too interested young fellas - I am no calendar girl, and probably old enough to be a grannie for a good few of you. I live in a beautiful part of Hampshire England, looking over the Downs; very blessed in that respect. I have SH2,3, 4 and now 5. The two games I most played on Amigas were a sub-sim whose name I have forgotten, and the space game Elite (I still play Egosoft's X-series space games ) and that subsim got me hooked, because, although the graphics were basic, you still got that tension as you heard the ship passing overhead..
I am a computer geek. Been interested in them since Speccy days and have for many years built and fixed PC's first as a business, then as a hobby. There was great satisfaction in reclaiming a machine from the local tip, getting it up and working and giving it to a needy person who could not afford to buy. Nowadays folks mostly want laptops, so though I still fix 'em when folks have a problem, I no longer keep a stock of monitors, parts and computers in the bedroom. At one time we had so many it was like Houston Space Control Centre up there. My Avatar is Maisie, our dog, sadly lost to cancer 18 months ago. Although I have been on here for some time now, and have all these games, I think I will always be a beginner, a cabin boy - but I have fun, and that is what it is all about :):rotfl2: |
