I get that as well but I can live with it considering my rig is not a super one.

I get the jelly/jell-o water in stock as well . I just Time Compress ahead in 3d views to about 8 or 16 tc and back to 1 tc and it goes away .

Ocean lament

Cross posted...sorry if you read already-

Not a big gripe but since I put in that outstanding Living Breathing Ocean MOD by leovampire, I realize one big thing I miss from SH3....the big whoosh sound from the bow of the sub going in and out of the water when pitching in heavy seas. :shifty:

+1 Weather-guesser

I miss this a lot too ..

I get it when I swivel the cam around, not when the cam is still, but had that in stock as well. Like some one said (Jelly looking) I am running a pretty descent rig here, Core Duo at 3.3Ghz, EVGA 8800GTX, 2 gig OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 / 1066MHz etc etc. I think its simply the way its rendered/animated with the game engine.

@nvdrifter, cheers man for all the work on the tweakerfiles. Learned all i know from looking at yours and timtravelers stuff.

I am having a (minor) problem with this mod:
Every time I load saved games I am getting rain, even when there was no rain when I saved. The weather report reads 'Precipitation none'. I am using no other mods that change anyting weather/sea related. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Still, this mod makes the SH4 world looks so much better now!

Banquet 07-26-07 03:36 AM

I used to get Jelly looking water occasionally in the standard game. It got worse with 1.3 and worse again with this mod, initially. I got rid of vertical sync and it went away. (Disabled in the .ini file as well as the options screen)

Not sure if it will work for anyone else, but it sorted it for me. Only downside is I get some tearing on the inside sub screens but I can live with that.

leovampire 07-26-07 05:36 PM

No problem NVDrifter credit belongs where it is due

that is why I also corected the Timetravler part when I found out!

Now I am trying to solve a couple of problems that people have mentioned and fulfill one request for one of the many moders I respect.

Number one seeing if I can ease up on the jelly effects and shaking that occers.

Number 2 trying to make it so that in the stage 4 waves the sub crashes through the waves more at varying speeds.

Three see if I can do all of this and ease up on stage 2 effects and not lose total visual reality and beauty and the complicated nature of the ocean effects,

I am already into the changes for the 5th almost 6th day now very time consuming and had to work out new formulas so that the ocean still dosn't sink ships. So please bare with me it's comming just need a little time. You have to remember the inicial work took me more than a month to do so changes and repairs take a little time as well!

Thanks C.C. for all the great comments as well because like many around here certain opinions mean a lot to me!

Plenty of patience here LV  Take your time. You've already taken SH4 into a new dimension and so have many great modders also.

Aye! Take your time. While i dont undertstand HOW you arrived where you did, i know its complex work. I think few here could have done it, i know i coudln't have.

I know the answers to these questions but think about this!

Riddle me this Batman

Does the ocean move at a slower pace when it has a calm surface layer vs tall waves with an equaly larger under curent or slower?

Does a wave have the same force at it's peak as it does at it's lowest point above and bellow the surface?

When the wind is blowing accross the surface of the ocean how long does it take before the ocean starts to change as far as creating waves and at what strength does the wind have to be I mean how fast does it have to blow and how long?

When does the surface waves start to create a more intensified bellow surface wave and how does the current of the ocean change vs intensity of waves and wind blowing accross it's surface?

Then when does the intensity of the waves and current start to effect a Ship and sub enough where they actualy have a problem staying upright and manuvering through the waves and current?

Then the bigest problem is how far can I go with adjustments before they change and start to do the oposit of what you are acheaving because at one point in each ajustment they start to reverse effects vs the other wave states if you don't work them out evenly enough.

But thanks for understanding that it takes time and I promise as soon as it is done I will post all results and have a new download as well that will also include the 30m underwater visability and the 9km above water visability changes.

One of the first things you will notice with the changes is the wind will have a much greater effect over the oceans surface "IE" in high winds the ocean will be a lot more turbulant and violent in wave effects.

Second as the wind calms down the waves will slowly work their way down into more of a rolling effects with much more ballance to them like you would see comming onto a shore line but still be varried in shapes and sizes and you may even notice from time to time roll over peaks like the tip of a wave is reaching for the sky with a finger.

Just a teaser to let you know how much things will change.
