Does anyone else experience merchants dodging torpedoes much more often/better with the .31 update? I find I need to be within 800m of target track in order to get any hits, even in the dead of night.

PL_Andrev 12-29-11 04:13 PM

1. How about 0.31 version?

2. If planes do not have bombs what is their tactics when enemy is spotted (included enemy/human-controlled sub)?

If planes do not have bombs but they have guns and they have ammo then they will attack. If they have guns but no ammo they will follow waypoints. If they don't have any guns and no bombs then they follow waypoints.

If this can be done then that's awesome. We need crew members to be killable -- permanently killable. It's one of the things that keeps so many people playing sh3 rather than sh5.

Hartmann 12-30-11 01:08 PM

In data crew_config_ cfgs there entries for hitpoints and health status for crew members , some of they have values and others not.

Morale=0.000000
Fatigue=0.000000
HealthStatus=0
HitPoints=0.000000
Experience=0

But probably some thing could be missing or the game engine donīt use these cfg files, for example there are files for other submarines types like II, IX and XXI

:hmmm:

I think you are better off looking at the save files and see what the game is saving .

what happens if you edit a save file and change the hitpoints and/or health above to 0? :hmmm:

lol, I was just about to ask the same. :D

Sartoris 01-01-12 10:58 AM

I've been using this mod order:

FX update
IRAI v .30
IRAI v .31 update
NewUI
Water disturbances mod

In my experience it is a bit too easy to evade the destroyers with this setup. The water disturbances mod works very well, a little too well perhaps. If you like, you can read about my experiences here: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?posts/1909715/ I'm using 96% realism, and only my external camera is turned on.
As you can see, I managed to attack an escorted carrier TWICE, take it down both times, and escape with minimal damage. A bit too easy, perhaps.

What are your IRAI settings?

You can always remove the water disturbances mod to make things harder ;)

Sartoris 01-01-12 02:28 PM

I'm using 85/95 both for merchants and non-merchants. I lowered the AI for non-merchants to 95 prior to using the disturbances mod and forgot to change it back to 85/100, so I assume that's an added bonus I didn't take into account.

As far as the disturbances mod goes, yeah, I might try disabling it and putting the AI to 85/100 just to feel the full fury of the destroyers again. :DL

Put the settings at 100/100 for warships (non-merchants) and disable the fatigue model and the AI will really hunt you ;)
