When you start a new campaign make damn sure you choose "EASY" or you'll never get your external views back. It overides whatever settings you chose in the previous menu.

One mystery solved.

Damn I'm a bit late it seems, but you wouldn't have had to reinstall. Your difficulty settings for the career keep resetting because you HAVE TO use the menu that is accessed through the captain's office while you're at port. It's accessed through one of the books on the left(US Career, german is different). The main options menu has no effect on campaign, only single missions and war patrols. No matter what difficulty you select, you can still change any of the settings from your office.

Actually, I didn't mind reinstalling man. I had a lot of overlapping mods and this was a great opportunity to "clean house." Running great now as you can see!

Ahoy!

I bought SH4 just same days ago and installed this mod yesterday. I do really like it very much but i have noticed, all the ingame music is gone. It is enabled in the Options so i guess the Mod disabled it somehow. How to get it back?

Sorry for misspellings and grammar mistakes. :arrgh!:

Maybe redundant but here goes.

Did you Patch your install to SH4 1.4 or do you have the U-Boat Addon which would be 1.5?

Second, once patched to 1.4, I recommend that you DL Ducimus Trigger Maru Overhauled which is his latest and last installment for 1.4 and enable that using JSGME. Now when you mention music is this radio or gramaphone that we are discussing?

Happy Hunting!

Newb Alert!!!

Welcome to Subsim.

Enjoy your stay and remember we are more than happy to help but please try to search the forums first.

Google has a wonderfull site search ability I only recently learned about.

I don't believe there is a lot of music available by default.

There are, however, a lot of mods and dl's available with period music if thats your thing.

You can find a lot of them here:

I´ve patched SH4 to 1.4, dont have the Addon. The music... well. In vanilla there is always a music in the background, dont need to activate the radio or gramaphone to get it and it changes automatically if in combat. Dont know how to explain it better. Ill download Overhauled as you suggested, maybe the problem will solve itself.

EDIT: Removed the old edition and applied Overhauled... but still the same problem. :(

I believe that Trigger changes/gets rid of the music in the background. I have used it so long that I forgot what Stock SH4 sounded like.....:nope: .

I recommend the many very well done Radio Mods that you can listen too while running on the surface or you can add period music and radio shows to your gramaphone and play them from there. That is what I do!

Happy Hunting!

Hi Spielverderber,

De-activate your new Trigger install. Then go into that mod here: data-sound-music
Delete that last folder: music, again in Trigger ( this is what changes the stock music, the.cfg file basically stops it from playing any of the background music ), then re-activate and you
are good to go :yep:

Good luck

Glad it worked out for you. Be sure to try the mods mentioned above. The radio ones really add to the immersion factor.

Yeah, but they do put a dent in your hard drive's storage capacity! :dead: Then again, I have a big drive now...BRING THEM ON (that was a note to self to get some radio mods I couldn't get before because of space limitations)!

OK noob here...just installed this along with Reflections on the Water so havent got very far yet, looks damn mighty fine though.

One question though about my first mission, Patrol 2 areas, I area is in a bay, fine did that, full speed to next one, only to find the binocular icon is on the main land?

I understand Ive got to get to within 50 metres of it, so any ideas?, does me sub have an undercarriage lever somewhere?
