Meh. I have no interest in TESO, I prefer games where the only idiot I have to put up with is myself. :haha:
So... I've got basically NOTHING done in the past couple of weeks, unless you count putting blankies and pillows down in the spots where the kittens like to sleep and moving other stuff around in a somewhat vain attempt to keep them from getting to places I don't want them to go. I managed to keep them off my desk for about two weeks but due to the massive squee induced by them sitting at my feet and crying to be let up that turned into them sitting on my lap while I was at the computer which very shortly turned into letting them ON the desk provided they curl up in one of the side alcoves and behave themselves. Which actually happens sometimes! They do like to sit in my lap and watch the monitor. They are fascinated by Skyrim (well who wouldn't be :O:) but also fascinated by me posting transactions in Quicken and Windows booting up and anything else that, you know, moves on the screen. Or anywhere really. I don't think I'll have to worry too much about bugs in the place, the last one I saw was caught and unceremoniously eaten by Carrot a couple days ago. Here they are having a cozy nap on the big front window ledge: http://imageshack.us/a/img13/1879/vg5n.jpg |
They are soooo cute!

I had to kick them both out of the bedroom this morning so I could go back to sleep. Thankfully they take it well, no caterwauling outside my door. I have to close them out of the office sometimes too and they just go find somewhere else to play. So glad I got two, they keep each other occupied when I'm not available. They have their first vet appointment next week and after that I'll set up something to get them neutered and most likely declawed as well. I've gone 'round and 'round on the declaw thing but I think it's for the best. They've pulled down three curtain rods and curtains (just tension or magnetic rods, not like "bolted into the wall" ones) by jumping up and hanging from the them, and my hands and forearms and legs are covered in scratches - not because they intend to scratch but just because they're playing or trying to get in my lap and using their claws is just natural instinct. Last night I made the mistake of trying to keep something away from one of them by hiding it behind my head while I was sitting on the floor, not realizing that the other one was behind me and also wanted to get whatever it was. Next thing you know I've got four sets of claws in my back because he's trying to climb up my shirt to get to the toy. I've also come out of the bathroom to find Sam hanging with his back paws two feet off the ground because he managed to jump up and get his front claws into my robe hanging on a hook in the closet. So, I think the front claws have got to go. That's not gonna stop the "bite mommy on the nose" issue but at least I won't get an accidental claw across my face when I turn over trying to get away from it. But you know if they were this little forever, I could just cancel cable and watch them for entertainment when I got bored. |

Then Carrot decided to content himself with giving Sam's left ear a thorough wash'n'buff, and that went on until he started to get sleepy again and then he just sort of gave up and conked out right on top of his brother. |
I learned real fast to keep Jill (my daughters cat) out of my bedroom at night. Her jumping off or on the bed at night was enough to wake me up. She would also come put her face in mine in the early morning when she thought I should wake up and play with her. She soon learned to put her paw under the bedroom door and pull on the door making it rattle to wake me up though. I had her for 18 years before she passed away, still miss her sometimes.

De-clawing a cat involves taking the tips of the toes.:wah:
In case you weren't aware.:hmmm: |

It's not a pleasant thing to put them through by any means, but neither is cutting their little nuts off. |

We had one tom that Milady' son brought home out of the blue. When that cat defiantly defecated on the bed right in front of her like he owned the place... well... He punched his ticket to the farm to live out his nine lives in the great outdoors.:nope: So long Milo. Ya dirty little bastard!:salute: Our current cat... Trinity or Twerp as I call her, has been earning her keep with the arrival of fall and its cooler temps. A family of mice have sought refuge in our nice warm abode and Twerp has dispatched three of them this week. At least the Chipmunks have shown great restraint from invading the house. |
Frau,
in case you need to udnerstand whats going on in your kittehs heads better, "Zefrank" might help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKffm2uI4dk "Like Sisyphus, I am bound to Hell." :haha: |

His "True facts about..." series is fantastic. I recommend "Owl" and...all the rest. Yet do not watch frogs... its...disgusting... I mean it. Don't. |
Well, the boys have their first vet appointment this evening after I get off work. I'm freaking out a little because I just heard from the friend who kept their two litter mates, they were in to be neutered this week and one of them didn't make it - he never came out of the anesthesia. Their vet thinks he may have had some kind of congenital defect, of the heart I suppose. It's possible there was more than one father involved in this particular litter, but the one who died had the same coloration as my Sam (none of the kittens look like their mother). He was also one of the smaller kittens, as is my Carrot - and lack of size/growth compared to their brothers could also be a sign of a defect of some kind.
And of course if there is a defect, it could've come from the mother so paternity wouldn't matter anyway, altho she just got spayed without any problems. Anyway I'll just have to talk to the vet and have their little hearts checked and see exactly how worried I need to be at this point. In other news, I've got to get the cat door installed, which my brother in law seemed to think could be done without taking the door down, but that door also sticks terribly and in the summer I couldn't close it at all which needs to be remedied also and I don't see how that could be done with it still up on the hinges? What do I need to do for that? I'm assuming just slice a bit off the offending too-wide side and then sand and paint. What's the tool I need? A planer, is that what it's called? I'm not sure what I'll need for the cat door, some kind of saw I'm assuming but I'll have to read the directions for the thing I guess. :hmmm: |
