There is no music in the AFRS stations. Saigon is seperate, and in fact is not even mine. I'm just mirroring it. You have to put music in the year folders inside the AFRS folder. Note that you should not put the music in the Events or just the AFRS folder itself. It won't play from either.
Also, when in game time were you trying to listen? The AFRS station doesn't start untl January, 1942. This is because historically they didn't produce any programming until that year. |

Understood that AFRS has no music, but Saigon does. I'm getting nothing from either of them except static, but the "tuner" shows the correct frequency and station name. I did re-read your AFRS read me just a while ago and saw the broadcasts are "night" ("Whenever possible, AFRS played their entertainment programs in the evening, so that's when I have them.")...my test was in the wee hours of the am (0200) so is it possible the station was done for the day? BTW, if it is broadcasting only in evening (if I read this right) how are you accomplishing this? I also note my .ini entries for the new stations have MusicVolumeOnNews=0.01 whereas my default Washington station is at 0.4...could it be the volume is so low it doesn't play over the static??? I'm reaching I know... BTW thanks Fred8615. |
Update
OK, I adjusted volume up and now have Saigon coming in. AFRS seems to be just nothing (no static, just "blank")...I'll need to fiddle some more.
Thanks for the assistance Fred8615; a quick question--is the AFRS broadcast continuous, or are there dead air times even when the station is available to broacast? It looks to me like a show is broadcast only on certain days and may only last a set period of time. Is this correct? |

The MusicVolumeOnNews= setting is to turn down the music on the radio when an event plays. Otherwise you would hear both at the same time. It has no effect when an event is not playing. I use the .01 setting to get the best hearing for the scripted events. |
Thanks Fred8615
Thanks for the clarification on the volume. I think between just digging in and fiddling + reading threads like this I'm gaining a handle on this aspect of the game. Last night I ordered a bunch of period recordings (music & famous speeches) from the library that I'm going to try and modify or create a new (imaginary) radio station.
Thanks again Fred8615 and all other modders / tipsters out there! :salute: You guys really add to the game! |

Ehm.. the readme was a bit ambiguous about this:
For KPO radio station: You can use either the "Generic" info, or info based on the real AM frequencies used by KPO or KFI. You should install only one station, not both! What does this mean? That I can only have one radio station, either KPO or KFI. Not both? Or do you mean that you can't have the "Real" and "Generic" simultaneously? Because I see that KFI is for L.A. and KPO is for S.F. Shouldn't both be in the radio.ini? |

If you do want, for whatever reason, to have both KPO and KFI, I can tell you how to fix it so that you can. But since both are global range stations, I personally don't see the point. |
Help needed!
Hi, everybody!
I need some help. Downloading from the BtS-site stops after some 60 KB. Any ideas? |
They have been doing some work, so maybe that's affecting downloads. If it keeps doing it, let me know and I'll ask over there. Are you registered there? It's not supposed to make a difference, but I might still need to know.

a single radio directory?
I dont know if its has been done.
is it possible to have the radio files in a single directory? and redirect the particular (multi sh4) installs to make use of it? I have 4 diff installs and in each I have a BIG radio directory, but I figure: if I put the audio files in one place, I can then have all the radio stations there and not have to choose which ones to install.... yes, theres a limit on HDs... comments? :hmmm: |

Love the work Fred..... Thanks !
One issue for me tho........ KHJ, when I extract to a folder I get 3-4 "Corrupt" files outta the bunch. Is it just me and I need to re-D-Load it.... or something in the package. Any Thoughts.......... ....................... |
If it's telling you the specific part number that's messing up, try re-downloading it. If it keeps doing it after several tries, let me know and I'll re-upload that part. It may have gotten corrupted on the server.

RAR extraction of downloaded files.
I have a ton of RAR music files that I have downloaded. What it the fastest program to extract the files. It is taking a long time to extract the RAR files. I am using RSM 1.2. At this rate, the war will be over before I can play the radio with all of the downloaded music.
|
I use WINRAR
but... just in case you don't know. When you download one of Fred's Radio Stations which consist of say 19 different files, you only have to run the extraction program on the file #1, the rest of the files are automatically included in the extraction as long as they have been downloaded to the same subdirectory as file #1.
Repeat, there is no need to extract files #2 through #X. I hope this helps... FWIW, I made the same mistake and "unzipped" all of them and was wondering why my file count in the directory was staying the same. Fred mentions this in the read.me installation instructions. BTW, Fred, thanks for all of your hard work making SH4 sound like the 40's! |
I used RSM 1.2 by Digital Trucker
I am using RSM 1.2 by Digital Trucker. Does that make a difference?
|
RSM by digital trucker?
I don't know if RSM actually extracts the RAR files from the downloads. I think that it is a Radio Station Management program and that the Radio Stations have to be installed first using a RAR extractor such as WINRAR or other RAR extraction program.
Perhaps you can ask Digital Trucker if his program extracts the RAR. Anyone? |
RSM doesn't extract. It only edits or fixes the radio save game problem. BTW, you may have a problem using RSM if you have my new KOTR station. RSM has a 1500 events limit in it, and KOTR has over 2600! I don't know what it'll do, just be aware there may be a problem.
If you don't have an archiver program, there are several free ones out there. Just make sure it can do RAR. I use Winrar. While it does cost, once you pay you get all updates free for life. |
Just simply amazing Fred!
The amount of work collecting and putting together.. Possibly my Favorite WWII mod in any game! I like it so much I had to make a standalone player to allow the WWII songs to play while in any game..lol.. wish I was good enough to make it look better...anyways.. Thanks again for the hard work you provide! http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...3a9f9e39ee.jpg |
