On a serious note, so does that wild hog taste any different than farm raised pork?

Yeah, it have a slightly different flavor but I used the same spices when cooking so you can't really taste a lot of difference. I guess it's like venison. Most of the time I make a pot roast with game I've killed. So it tastes about the same.

It is somewhat true about old boars, they do retain a strong odor and it really puts me off slaughtering it. I don't know why. I've been told you can get the odor out by marinating for a long time in ice water or vinegar water, but I don't need it that bad,. So as I said, I usually only slaughter your pigs and sows.

It is not like with some deer that may have some more or less strong side flavour, I can say by a lot of experience that feral hog tastes much better :)

Alarm went off multiple times last night, same 3 coons. I may trap them in the live trap and relocate them if this continues.

So that's why the animal keeps on coming nighttime..the racoons has been spreading words that the gentleman living in this house has lots of chips.

I agree, to say nothing of the catfish.

Onkel Neal 07-25-21 06:01 PM

Last night, nothing, not even coons. :06:

Was away from the house all day.

I am adding an additional surveillance camera to the arsenal, this one will also alert me when something enters the zone, but it allows me to pull up live video to see what it is. This way I don't have to get up and troop to the back of my property to only learn it's 3 diffident coons having a feast on my pig bait.

https://youtu.be/CyC-twpMCaY

It also has a speaker feature, maybe I can growl and scare the coons off... maybe a good dose of swearing will work.:yeah:

Quiet night, no pigs, just coons.

I approached them this morning and scared them off by clapping my hands.

I have something in store for the coons that will break their nerve...

Just got a really nice .357 Evanix Air Gun in today!
I could bring that and the .50 Cal Evanix.
Both are silenced!
Both have enough power and bullet weight behind them to do Vitals shots.
