Woohoo! Manned mission to Duna and back again, succes.
http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot28.jpg Lander and orbiter docked and ready to set off. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot30.jpg Passing Ike. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot31.jpg Aproaching Duna. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot32.jpg Landing. Required a small burn from the engine since the parachutes weren't enough to slow the descent sufficiently. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot34.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot35.jpg Rendezvous around Duna. Lander was discarded after fuel transfer, leaving only the command module docked. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot41.jpg Final separation back around Kerbin. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot42.jpg Home! These guys can go without food and water for a remarkable time. |
@Stealhead,
if you need help, let us know!:salute: @Arclight, very well done! Duna is one of my next targets to spy out before I even dare to send someone over there! :) Meanwhile in my universe: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-n...12.12%2529.jpg A Kariane 5 delivered the "Achilles" liquid fuel module after her little sister, the Kariane 2 delivered the "Tranquility" connecor part (between the fuel tank and the stationīs center. The KSS is still @80x100km and docking was OK today after only using RCS thrusters 100% manually. It needs some extra nerves of steel but prevents lag. After 6 successful missions, the KSS is nearly complete and a manned flight is being prepared as we speak to put her into comission and start research and observation missions aboard the brand new station. |
Sure thing I am testing out some of your mods right now.
Turns out that the Kosmos TKS was not showing up because I had deleted the parts and had pasted in the parts for Rocketry Overhauled (which had not tried at that point).Anyway a re install never hurts when you have something messed up a bit. @Archlight so that mission took 793 days 2 hours and 33 minutes?Kerbals must have lots of fat storage. |
Alright, "Pandora" module number 7, a lateral docking port, was attached to the station. I may undock the RCS tank and put it on the other side of the fuel tank,
so the fuel stuff is at one place and where the docking (for crew transfer and refuel missions) is. After that, I leave it as it is and send some crew up. Exciting! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-b....12-2%2529.jpg Edit: ~2hrs later, the Kerbal Space Station was finally commissioned! Phew... I invested way too many hours into this ALPHA version oO https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-g...mmissioned.jpg |
Really need to take a shot at station construction, fancy stuff. :hmmm:
Gemini project has commenced, with the aim of putting a man on Eve and getting him back. First though, a probe. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot33.jpg Stable orbit. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot36.jpg Probe separation. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...reenshot37.jpg Deployed. I'm starting to question the viability of a manned mission. The gravity of Eve is significantly higher than that of Kerbin, and the atmosphere is about 4 times as dense at ground level. :-? |
Nice :03:

I made a photoshoot with my models! :yep:

The Shuttle is awefantastic, I had a huge spacegasm as I found it. Canīt wait for release, a Shuttle is exactly what I need for my updated Space Program 2012 |
Eve Probe

Because of this thread I ended up buying KSP. Wasn't having much luck with a circular orbit until I watched the awesome videos on their forums. Opened my eyes to how it's all done.
Now I've sent a manned mission the moon. Didn't land tho, didn't have enough fuel to get back home but went around it a couple times then came home. The poor fella tho, due to budget cutbacks there weren't any parachutes installed. burial at sea. Having fun. Cheers! |
After about 30 failed attempts, I've just put my first satellite (yeah, just the little sputnik thing) into orbit around Kerbin. Now I'm just sitting back and watching it go around with a strangely satisfied sensation.

^Same got one satalite in a not planned orbit but it's in orbit :D and recently shot another satalite into a more succesfull planned orbit.

Hahaha, well done Daimyo!

My problems revolve around figuring out how much fuel I need to get something from A to B. :hmmm:
|
Trial and error for me. If I run out, make it bigger and try again.
Probe on Layte; seems a lot more likely candidate for a manned mission than Eve. http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...psd9dca76c.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...psb7093e95.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...psbabe94b7.jpg http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/j...psf8636eee.jpg Missed the mark. Turns out probes float. |

SSTO Prototype 4D I did notice one pretty big flaw when I was making the rendezvous, it has only 2 directions of translation. up/down and forward/back. Had to improvise by banking to 90 degrees to get the "left/right" translation. Got close enough to make the docking by manouvering the station itself. Needs more RCS overall due to sluggish translational control and linear thrusters for l/r translation. |
