It's quite a recent development though, it shouldn't have wooden sleepers...the only thing I can think of is rubber and wiring underneath the track.

You know, I was just saying to the guys on Teamspeak whilst watching that furniture store fire in Croydon, watching the smoke on the street being drawn into the fire as the firemen struggle to stand upright in the fierce draft...it makes you wonder just what it must have been like for the firemen during the Blitz when it was entire city blocks on fire, not just a street corner, and with bombs still falling.
Blitz firemen - Unsung heroes.

Massive salute to him Steed, a true hero. :salute:

Just a small aside, spotted this on the twitter feeds. CNN reporter in full warzone gear reporting in Peckham, I don't know whether to laugh or cry:

Asphalt also burns under high temperature. If the sleepers are covered by asphalt that is. Rubber sounds like it, at least here, railway crossings have rubber covers over sleepers.

Hey my grandad was a fireman during the war :yep:,helped to fight fires during the Sheffield blitz, which was even worse than the firestorms that ravaged London during the war.
I think Coventry got hit the worst during the war,I think.

RIP Grandad, and all the other heroes that lost their lives during the blitz.

What the hell is Cameron's vile presence going to do as far as these cowardly wretches marauding and looting the country are concerned?
Cameron is about as useful as having holes in your lungs! :damn:
He wants stringing up,quartering and his head set on London bridge to serve as a warning, just like they did with that other nuisance William Wallace.

I for one hope it doesnt spread further north,or we may all be in dire peril, and that may not be such a far-fetched assumption before long.I mean, who could stop these rampaging hordes doing as they please and at will?,the police are seriously stretched as it is,Cameron doesnt give a s##t and most British people dont have the stomach for these sort of things like they did during WWII.
If it continues to worsen even more Jim we could be screwed for real this time.
I saw earlier footage of an officer lying out cold on the floor while some of his comrades tried desperately to protect his body and fend of straggling attacks by ravenous hyenas.
What a bloody nightmare this is developing into.

STEED 08-08-11 03:58 PM

Get the Tanks out!

Jimbuna 08-08-11 04:02 PM

Cameron is returning back to the UK :yep:
