I actually said that the Bush monkey thing was tasteless,and I'm only glad that the members here didn't take you up on your request and actually post Obama-monkey pictures

I said (and its quoted above) that "asking people to post pictures of Obama compaired to a monkey is careless and IMHO would be in danger of encouraging racisim on this forum" and I still belive that is true.Small minded bigots could latch on to that sort of tasteless crap and then - well I dont even want to think about it

Hopefully it's all a joke that for some reason I can't work out - because I dont feel comfortable about it at the moment at all.

Maybe you should read my comments again, I didn't make any request. I said "Go for it", meaning, if it's ok to post these kinds of pictures about Bush, it's ok to do the same for Obama. Nothing racist is meant or implied.

Maybe I am going about this wrong, robbo. Like you said, I do not want to encouraged any racist behavior in this forum. I don't support racism but I'm not hyper sensitive to it either ( I grew up around black people, went to school with them, played football with them, worked with them, etc). You have to live here to understand, I guess. Recently the Italian PM made a small joke that Obama was "young, fit, and even tanned". In the US that is a compliment, he meant it as a good naturd joke, but there are twits everywhere waiting for this kind of comment so they can go running about with their hands in the air screaming "Racist! Bigot!" :roll:


I appreciate that Warhawk attempted to swing this thread onto the "good-natured laughing at Bush's goofiness" track. My mistake was allowing the racist depictions of Bush by Stealth Hunter, that was over the line and I should have acted on that. This thread is locked.
