Description
you all know the effect that a distant sound, well, sounds different.
the original game had only the volume toned down for distant sounds
but with this mod you get a change in sound for anything that
happens far away, like explosions, gunfire or even airplanes.
the sound library was rewritten to support additional sounds
at different distances.
not only that, all events that might be heard underwater
where also made audible and changed a little bit due to overlapping
sound waves when heard underwater.

the sounds i used (and modified) are mainly based on pouls sound mod.
version for stock, FOTRSU, GFO, TMO 2.5, RFB2, OM/OMEGU (with or without Websters Maneuver or SonarTargetFix)


--> do not use with TMO2.5 BH update 2.0, it's already included <--



** if you have different smoke mod, install the smoke mod last **


** if you have compatibility probs with other mods try FOTRSU version **


--> If you have SClass Full Interior/Officers Quarters installed, activate EAX last! <--



updated 21.07.22: supports latest FOTRSU 1.8 and Fleetboat Interior/S-Class full interior,
fixed some sounds cut out too early, fixed Narwhal deck gun

updated 12.08.22: fixed water splashes

(mod is backwards-compatible for older versions)

Hi;
Just downloaded and installed this wonderful sound mod! It rocks!!!

I'm new to this site and was wondering what GFO, TMO RFB stands for when talking about SH4?

I'm using SH4 v1.4 pacthed to OTC mod from this site.

The sounds in this mod really make the game come alive!

Wow! The sonics and atmospherics are great. Love the deck gun shells sound as it departs. It gives a sense of time and space that really adds to the simulation.

I have this mod for SH3 also, and it kicks all sorts of butt!

I don't know why, but after installing this mod the game worked fine until I saved and exited. Later on, when I tried to reload the save, the game would crash every time after approx. 5 minutes in-game time.

After renaming the deck gun file, restoring old sound files and replacing particle files (both of them) it all started working again, so
a) If anyone is having problems with loading saves try doing what I did.
b) If anyone knows what might be causing this and/or how to fix it do share with me.

Though now that I think about it it might have been caused by wrong version installation... I need to check my mods folder. Though I loved the deck gun sound, I hope I can get it to work somehow
