The only reasonable option left is an organized withdrawal.

"Our goal in Iraq is clear and unchanging," he said. "Our goal is victory. What is changing are the tactics we use to achieve that goal."

A new poll weeks before key Congressional elections shows two-thirds of Americans believe the US is losing the war in Iraq.

profoundly wierd....

the WAR was against the Iraqi military under the rule of Saddam Hussien..

which was WON..

there is no War in Iraq (other than in the USA's collective political imagination)

it is a police action...you cannot declare war against an old lady at a bus stop signalling for the activation of a bomb.....or an young man with semtex strapped to his body...or some old man with a rpg...even if they appear to have declared war against you

a war is something that occurs between two or more military powers...
the insurgency is at WAR (they are fighting against a Military power)
the Allied armed forces are fighting a police action..

this insistence on calling it a war is not helping..

you cannot declare war on the civilian population of a country...it just doesn't work

I think Gizzmoe is hinting there is more news around the world to talk about and this subject has had a very good run. ;)
