Perhaps it's just me, but if I'm flying a Liberator 2,000 klicks out from the nearest dry land, and I get hit with flak and catch fire, I'm not going to contiue agressively attacking. I'm gona beat propellers fast as I can and hope to reach land before I either go down in flames or have to bail out over open ocean. So why do the aircraft in game act like kamikazes and continue attack after attack even as they are virtual fireballs?

I don't know :nope: but I swear those RAF guys must have a death wish. Not only do they aggressively attack even while they look like angry fireballs (its pretty cool seeing a critically damaged plane at night, very easy to spot as well) but they also collide into each other  So far this has happened to me twice- go ahead and let yourself get attacked by 12+ aircraft at a time, and sooner or later two of them will plow right into each other while diving at you from opposite directions.
Yeah - aircraft flying around on fire- that sjust the tip of the iceburg mate!
Aicraft AI in SH3 is abismal! The worst Ive ever seen in a modern simulator.
Take the Hurricane and Avenger for example, I tested them to see what they would do if they spot me when thye dont have any ordenance to attack me with, I thought maybe they would make a straffing attack with guns, but instead they just get confused and circle while decending until they hit the ocean and die. :shifty:

clearly they're devoted personnel, respect thy adversary, leave a life jacket.

Didn't you know RAF Coastal Command was in the habit of employing Japanese pilots, in a cladestine venture to see the practicality of using suicide planes against U-Boats?
They told the pilots that they were American subs, and that they were in the habit of raiding British shipping and stealing the Captain's shorts.

Sorry, my Romanian friends in Ubisoft, but that's something that's been bothered me since day one:cry:.
Combat Flight Simulator 3 had this nice system of "white smoke: Light damage; Darker smoke: Engine about to give in; Black smoke: Engine about to quit on you; Fire: Bail the **** out!".
Silent Hunter III has a system of: "Fire: Possibly heavily damaged. Will continue fighting". I think it has to do with how everything in the game is fire-proof (just look at the gunners on ships).
Boats have this nice, intricate damage system of listing, losing this and that, and what the Heck not. While I don't ask for the same level of detail from planes, which do admittedly play a far smaller role, something like the smoke system from CFS3 would be nice.

Hopefully GWX will, too.
