DEBKAfile and DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military sources have been reporting since late August that Iran’s political and military leaders have resolved not to wait passively for an American attack but to go instead for a pre-emptive strike against US forces in the Persian Gulf and Iraq, as well as targeting Israel.

While it might be true, I always take Debka with a grain of salt. They have been hit or miss, though many of their hits have been interesting and unexpected. In this case, expectations are already there.

If they do this it will remove any of our inhibitions against striking them in the first place and we'll do a lot more than toss some missles at them.

If Iran attacks Israel the latter should return the fire on the Oil Fields. Drop radioactive nukes on each one of them and make them unusable for centuries to come.

By Caroline B. Glick

The clouds of the coming war are converging upon Israel. But the Jewish State's political and military leaders refuse to look up at the darkening sky.

The Russian bear has awakened after fifteen years of hibernation. Under the leadership of former KGB commander President Vladimir Putin, Russia is reasserting its traditional hostility towards Israel.

that, and theres this book that is written by a man named John Hagee. Its called Jerusalem Countdown, and it was written before all of this stuff in the Israel/Lebanon stuff started happening. He predicted EVERYTHING that has happened so far there, and the thing that made me say the above comment was this: He predicts that Russia will side with Lebanon against the Israelies. I think its more than coinsidence that 550 russian troops have arrived in Lebanon recently......

550 Troops is a joke. Token force without any force. Now if 55,000 show up, you know something is amiss!

Like what ?
Invade Iran ?
The USA doesn't even have enough ground forces to effectively control Iraq, how on earth are they going to open a second ground theater in Iran ?
Unless of course if the US reenacts obligatory military draft for all citizens (18 years +).
But somehow I don't see this happening.

Perchè non? :hmm: Può essere una buona idea per iniziare la brutta copia.

EDIT: ok, that did NOT come out as I had expected, used a translator and here's what i got:

"Why not? Good idea can be one in order to begin the ugly copy."

oopsies!

Just nuke the Oil fields!

Iran is a central-planned state and ~50% of the state's budget comes from Oil. What are they going to do without it? Increase taxes massively? Cut expenses massively? Get into massive debt? Or let Iranians start starving to death like North Koreans, instead of following the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus example?

It's the same with Russia. If you destroy Russian energy (Oil+Gas) fields and make them radioactive for decades to come the Russian state dies, there's nothing but Oil & Gas on the Russian GDP & Budget.

Who needs an "invasion"? All you need are a few B-2 Spirits with long-term radioactive nukes to reach their target, they don't even have to RTB if that's necessary - the volunteer crew can parachute over water or neutral countries.

Only North Korea is safe from this threat and counter-attack since there's nothing left to be destroyed in North Korea that Kim hasn't already destroyed himself.

EDIT: http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/scr/2006/cr06129.pdf

^^^ They can destroy Israel and attack the USA, but Israel and the USA can destroy the Iranian state. Is Israel worth your downfall Khamenei? Of course, knowing people's greed and lust for Oil, nobody will dare to destroy them. Pitty, we could use learning to live without it.

These "troops" are mostly engineers, not fighting troops. But all you need to do is to review Russia history of sending military consultants somewhere to surmise which direction the wind is blowing. In addition, Russia has sneared and snickered at Israeli official's complaints of sophisticated weapons reaching Hizballah terrorists and others, putting on a thinly vieled mask of denial.

Russia is repeating the same mistake they made in 1939, when they signed a pact with the devil. It will not save them this time, either.

I dunno about the IDF but in most countries the difference between the two is not as great as your statement implies. In any case what they are calling them may not have anything to do with their true purpose

No disagreement but their work is mostly in reconstructing strategic structures, such as bridges, etc.

Of course, there will be more coming in the future and their tasks will expand to other military related tasks, which don't involve the Russians themselves to use any guns.
