London area SubSim beer-up... Pics! [Archive]

I've got to go up to London next month for a week's training at Learning Tree near Euston. When I'm there I usually stay in the Soho area.

If any of you guys from up London way fancy a beer one evening then I'd be happy to meet up - let me know. I'll be the one chewing a bit of corn and staring wide-eyed at all the big buildings and the cars (or I'll be in the Crobar - http://www.crobar.co.uk/ - drinking my arse off).

My training course is last week in November, looking at the 28th/29th. That's the only time I can make it up there due to work.

Of course, if those dates are a problem then others can arrange a different meet-up.

Basically you con some hapless person like a waitress into taking a group picture. You waggle a camera at her and suggest she needs to stand on a chair to get a better shot. When she climbs up, you pull back and let every one in the group take a photograph of her instead. If she has the remotest sense of humour she will appreciate how silly and conspicuous she looks and give you a big smile . It's great for international relations.

This young girl demonstrated what a wonderfully friendly people the Dutch are, and gave us a wave. I don't suggest you try this in Iraq, Iran or North Korea :D

Well, as I started this off I guess I'd better make a stab at sorting out some of the detail.

The Crobar is fairly small, so how about somewhere like the Walkabout on Shaftesbury Avenue: http://www.walkabout.eu.com/010/WISA/intro.html? It's central, fairly cheap and does food for those who want it?

Date is either 28 or 29 Nov 06 (I'd say the 28th but feel free to disagree) and time: 1800 onwards? Or is that too early?

POST MATCH ANALYSIS

Well, there was wine, women, dry ice and 80's music....

1800: DanCanovas, Kapitan and I made it in the end, sank some beers and vodkas and talked rubbish about subs, games, subsim and life. I ate Kangaroo for the first time which tasted suspiciously like beefburger.

2200: We met Samantha, Candice and an odd Turkish bloke.

2300: Kapitan left, the girls left us in charge of their drinks and bags while they went to the toilet and the odd Turkish bloke ranted to Dan for a bit about Kurds and told me I had a 'big fat belly'.

2315: It became obvious the girls weren't coming back (apparently my fault for telling them how we knew each other - the odd Turkish bloke said they were 'butterflies'). Dan and I left - he got the tube home and I meandered to my hotel.

All in all a damn fine night, cheers guys :p

Kapitan has photos from his phone - none of us remembered to take cameras :oops:

11 double vodka's and im still standing and the best part is no hangover :D but i took the day off work cause well after i got home alot of naughtie naughties got going, woke up to the oposite this morning though.

On the way home i had to go to the lav i found a back ally and started only to find CCTV camera right above me oh well carry on :D, got on the tube the heat hit me litteraly i almost slept the whole way home.

Wish we all could have stayed longer though and hopefully we can do it again real soon il try and get these pics up and running by saturday.
