I've got the following problem and hope somebody can help: I tried to change the U-Boat renown (all types) to 0 because I don't think that I should hve to pay for my boats. But after changing the values to 0 and saving the old values are restored. Do you know why? When I changed the renown values of equipments and weapons that problem didn't occur.

Dunno! :hmm: Sorry!
But if you want free boats, I?m sure someone will be able to tell you, but 'till then use the Kid's Mod for GW. That enables a lot of things, one amongs them are free ships and thing. Use JGME to install it, get the boat and then unistall it, because it's also lowers the rate of realism in the game.
Hope it helped a bit!

Thanks, but I don't like GW. After I installed it the game didn't tell me what kind of ship I was targeting. Before installing GW I was told that my target was a tanker or a destroyer but after installing it just says "Contact" even if I'm only 300m away.:damn:

That is an option to GW you know, that you don't have to run/install. What version of GW are you running?
Also, if you've optically locked onto a contact, click on 'ship' at the top left of the data notebook and that'll automatically open the ship registry manual to the correct nationality and ship description. It still won't tell you what the ship is, but it's not too hard to recognize small merchants from large cargos, and tankers from passenger liners. Or DDs and carriers. --grins--

At least you were able to install it, I spent my whole day off trying to intall the GW mod and it just wouldn't work. I downloaded the 4 bins and the installer but it couldn't find the folder even when I browsed right to it, it said insert disk or browse another folder. I spent 6 hours trying to figure it out before I gave up. Im sure its a great mod, but I've learned that on these forums any bad speech about the GW is the same as cussing in church.:rotfl:

OK, don't quote me on this, as I'm at work and can't double-check things at home.
I believe you need to decompress all 4 bin files and the installer file before running the installer. Otherwise running the installer it will not recognize the bin files as being legit files.

I had the same problem. You chose to install "Generic ship names" with GW. Makes you to read CAREFULLY what the install says, not just click every single thing thinking it's good.

You sure you downloaded the whole think correctly and that you have SH3 patched to 1.4b. And it mustn't be moded, it has to be a clean install. CLEAN!!! PLus, there is a chance you're download are corrupt. Re-downloading is my suggestion.
And you can't unzip .bin files. They're file something. They ussualy come with a .cue file so that you can make a CD out of it. In GW the installer "unzips" the bin files.
For Hyperion2206. Download GW again and make sure you don't check the "Generic ship name" tag! Then use the Kid's Mod.

When I downloaded mine I had to decompress them first, as they'd been uploaded using a .7z format, and running the GW installer without decompressing the 4 7z-compressed .bin files would not work.

If you are using SH3 commander, it replaces sections of the basic.cfg, depending on what options you select. It will also overwrite it with the entire original original that you had in place when you first ran commander, inclusive of the changes made based upon your selection.
Try doing a rollback in commander, make your changes and see if that works.
