sh1 in german. commanders edition?

ive dug out my old sh1 disc, german edition, and i want to try if i can make it run again. what exactly is the commanders edition? do i miss any important game features if i dont have that? are there updates for the game?
any tips fo making it run, are apreciated.

There were two add-on "Patrol Discs" for SHI. The Commander's Edition included those and added a third. Altogether there were (I think) five new patrol zones. If I could get to my stuff I'd tell you for sure.
