Hi everyone. I've been playing SH3 now for a couple of weeks with various different mods.
But today I recieved a message that said the Bismarck needed help at NE of Grid BE53. The date was 27 of May 1941 and I needed to be there at 8:00hs.
As luck would have it. I wasnt very far away from that grid. So I set a course for that area and proceded on course at flank speed. I checked the time in which it would take me to get there. But unfortuantly I was just too far away. Either way I still attempted to get there as quick as possible.
But it wasnt very long after using time compression that I recieved another message saying that the British had sunk the Bismarck and it was a very sad day for Germany.
So I am now wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to save the Bismarck from being sunk? And has anyone tired to do this?
Or is this just extra messages added to the game from a mod I have installed and there really is no way of engaging the ships that attack the Bismarck?
I had a look on the map but there was no blue mark to suggest where it was. Which is normally the case when you get a message saying there is a friendly or enemy task force at such a point.
Thanks..

It's usually just a message. Some mods have the Bismarck there, and it does get attacked. But I've heard stories of people escorting the Bismarck back to German waters while at the same time getting that message. :)

I've tried 1000 times to save Bismarck in that single-player mission (and succeeded once). Never encountered her during my career.

In the single mission, it would seem I saved the the Bismarck. I was able to sink one of the British battleships, and the other one w/its escorts seemed to back off the Bismarck.

Thanks for your replies much appreciated :).
In the single player mission I can now always manage to save the Bismarck. I even escorted it back to base once :). What I do to achieve this is simply send two torpedoes with a 1 degree spread and the depth adjusted so they exploded under their keels. I normally launch the first two torpeoes at the trailing battleship and then wait from memory around twenty seconds and then launch the others. ( I did know all of this off by heart. But it has been a while since I have played this mission).
Now as soon as I release the last two torpedoes I then come about 180 degress as quick I as can to use my stern tube to finish either battleship off.
Nine times out of ten once one Battleship goes down the others seem to high tail it out of there. I have also been known in the past to take the rest of the ships on with my deck gun to cause more chaos and confusion :).
BTW I hope you are right about that Kylania. I think it would be great if I could manage to save it :). Now that you mention you have heard from others that they have saved it and escorted it back to base. I will go back to one of my earlier patrols and ensure I am at that patrol grid at the time the message comes through and see what happens :).

I have saved the Bismark in the single-mission and in a career as well,I actually took out the Task force to intercept (gw) before they got anywhere near her but that was only once and pure luck on my part because I usually ignore radio messages, In other careers I diliberetly went out to find her but could find nothing due to foul weather. And as far as I know in the single mission (mine anyway) she justs sails in a large circle.
When I got the message, I was too far away to reach the point where Bismarck was attacked:cry:
CG, Nice to see there are quite a few other Aussies on deck now!
Depending on the mods you have in your career the Bismarck will either be there or not. The radio messages you get are there mainly for background immersion and don't really require you to do anything. I remember getting a message to my U-47 stating that I had to go help attack some convoy in BF12 or something and this was after I'd already headed for home after Onkel Donuts had told me to return to base because I'd used all my eels.
Still I reckon it would be fun to try to get there if you were close enough in a career and see what damage you could do.
Never been able to save her myself in the single missions. I play at 100% realism and it's damned hard to get all 3 lined up with shots in time.
