View Full Version : More @#$! fatigue

I've seen DanCanovas' thread but don't want to take it OT from his fatigue situation.
I'm still trying to figure out which fatigue model to choose after a reinstall some time back. I'm just about ready to turn it off entirely, which I know from reading other threads on fatigue may be the best answer given the inherent and unmoddable flaws in the system.
But at the risk of asking for some advice on this one last time, can somebody help me with some advice as to what fatigue model I should choose. I think the problem stems from my not really knowing what the various models do. Any chance that somebody could quickly sketch out one-liners on each of the models, eg Rub, Rub 1.5, GW8hour, 12 hour etc? Right now I've been trying RuB, but all of a sudden, the whole crew has come down with chronic fatigue and none of the crew in the crew quarters is recovering at all, even if I go deep and cruise real slow and gentle for them.
Tks much.
Seeing no one else has replied....... Use SHIII Commander and turn off Fatigue. I don't play using it for the simple reason I don't want to babysit my crew and tell them when it's time to go beddy bye. ;) They're old enough to know on their own. LOL
Now if it could be modded so the crew rotates shifts on their own, that would be one great mod. :yep:

RuB doesn't model fatigue as the others do, or so I understand. They call it 'patrol fatigue' or somesuch, and it represents a cumulative fatigue build-up over the course of a patrol. It doesn't regen and recover, no matter what you do; only docking and ending a patrol will 'reset' the fatigue.
Actually, here is their exact wording:
Fatigue: the new fatigue is based on a combat stress model. It is no longer fatigue. The feature is meant to reward careful crew assignments while removing the burden of micromanagement that the original game placed on the player. In this mod the torpedo compartments and the repair area are the most stress-inducing areas of the boat, so try to keep crewmen out of these areas until they are required to work there. Also, try to limit placing watch crews on duty during bad weather. It's best to submerge when the weather is bad. Always make sure not to spend too much time at under 32x time compression.
Combat stress and crew management: When crewmen become fully stressed they will work at lower capacity. In the first couple of missions (until you train specialists) this can make it difficult to run the boat. In the short-term, place NCOs and officers in compartments which are having trouble. Between patrols, give the necessary specialist badges to NCOs and officers so that they can work the worst-affected compartments more efficiently.
Sleeping areas and fatigue: Fatigue (now combat stress) will no longer heal during time spent in the sleeping areas, but these areas will prevent crewmen from becoming more stressed. Fill these compartments with all non-essential personnel in order to keep them rested for duty.
Fatigue Marker: the fatigue marker's shape and colour has been changed. This is to remind players that high fatigue is not a 'red alert' situation. Crewmen can and will do their job even when highly stressed, but their efficiency will drop considerably. A stressed torpedo crew often takes 24 minutes to load a tube, while a fresh crew takes only 12 minutes.
Hope this helps explain the fatigue issue for you.

Use SHIII Commander and turn off Fatigue.
Just for emphasis, Commander mod is a must. Just about everybody around here uses it. It's very simple to use, so don't be shy. :sunny:
Turn it off.
In no way, shape, or form is the captain of a ship responsible for making sure that every crew member goes to bed at regular intervals. I can't imagine why this is included in the game.

Yup, I think I'll turn it off, thanks for all your input.
