Followed a link from ww2incolor, and come across this site, so I thought "Hey, let's look up the Garand, I like that rifle" well, the Garand costs nearly a grand so I'll have to wait until I win the lottery to get one...but, the thing that made me laugh the most was the first three words of the paragraph.
Made in Japan.

That's insanely expensive. Should get real one in working condition with that price.
I bought my Suomi KP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suomi_M-31_SMG) for 150 euros from army's used item shop.

Missäpäin? Olisin itsekin kiinnostunut tuosta legendaarisesta konepistoolista. Ja noin halvalla vielä!:hmm:

I'm sure there's quite a few Garands floating around in Europe.
Right now CAI (Century Arms International) imports them from Greece, South America, and parts of Europe.
Here in the states you can also get them via the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program). I wouldn't expect alot of quality but with a good renovation of the gun would make it a nice shooter (replacing the barrel would be a good idea though).
Most run obo. $150. up to around $300 average.
But before you even fire it (or even bother to clean it, tear it apart, whatever u want to do with it) get the headspace checked and inspected by a competent gunsmith. (By that I mean don't go to someone who works out of their garage).

I must be turning in to a middle age old f**t that or it's just gone 1.00AM. :-?
The M1 Garand was one of THE rifles issued to US soldiers in the Second World War, watching any film like Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan and you'll see at least one M1, its high rate of fire made it very popular over the bolt-action rifles used by Axis forces.
Now...the joke behind my statement is that the M1 Garand was also used the Pacific theatre, by US forces against the Japanese...and here's a replica Garand rifle...MADE IN JAPAN!! :rotfl:
Still half asleep so I will not get it until tomorrow morning or next Wednesday afternoon when I jump off the chair saying I got it now. ;)
