Hi Folks,

any Skipper here from Chicago ? I´ve one day Layover in KORD on my 747 Freighter Tour there, and I´d like to visit the U-505... I´m there Oct 15th. Maybe some of u guys wants to visit a Kraut Sub together with a native Kraut ;)

I am from Indianapolis. I grew up in Illinois, 90 miles south of ORD, and have been to the sub a few times. Is a good tour. The whole museum is nice. The last airline I worked for had many 747-200's . What capacity are you on the plane. I was a ride on Mechanic for three years then a Professionla Flight Engineer for 4 years. Flew all over the world.
If something doesn't pan out and you do not find someone I could possible make a trip up there, depending on what time you get into KORD. If it is early in the morning, then I should be able to make it. If it is later, I wouldn;t be able to. I have to work Monday.
I can head to my home town on saturday and then head from there to meet you if it works out on Sunday the 15th. Sunday the museum is open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Let me know...Eric

P.s. The only thing I didn't like about the sub was how they cut the hatchways so people could walk through better. I thought it would have been better to leave it as is so you could see the real conditions of the sub and how cramped it really was. I know they were thinking about people walking through and wanted to make it easier, but that is just me though.

Hi Eric.

I´m flying the 747-400, I am First Officer on that baby.

I check out in ORD at 0400 LCL Time, on OCT 14th. Arriving from Anchorage. I fly back OCT 15th at 0945 LCL to ANC. So actually I can go to the Museum on Saturday the 14th, not as mentioned first the 15th. Sorry, my fault. But maybe the 14th is more convenient for you ?

Rob

Let me see what I can work out. At the moment I can not promise anything. I will know more after this weekend is done. I work Fri. night, but could still possibly make it up there Sat. I will let you know more as it comes closer. I haven't been there since they moved U-505 inside, and would like to see it. I will keep in touch and let you know for sure around Monday or Tuesday.
No FE on that Baby. I also like the three a/p option on it. I never flew on a 400. Would like to though. As close as I come is my flight sim..lol

I moved from Chicago years ago. Great city... I went to the 505 a couple times. Be sure to walk around Michigan Ave. and the Loop, visit the Sears Tower, and take a walk along the Lake as well as visiting the 505.

@Eric sorry my Notebook broke down... I am in ORD now, goin today to the museum. Was busy all the time, and from the Airline Internet there was no outside access to subsim.com possible... I´ll do some pictures and will post them here. Can meet next time when I am in ORD, cos I thing it´s too tight for ya now considering the time.

Regards,
Rob
