I'm just gonna let them screw themselves for now on! LOL!!!!:rotfl:

This is just sick!!! And to think the republicans gave the dems a hard time about Clinton! :rotfl:

This is 100X worse than Clinton, since clinton kept it to adult on adult and man on woman!!! This guy is just a sick sick sick person.

So now I am left to ask, "Why would have the smallest confidence in the current government to seek and find out who the terrorist are that mean to do harm to our country if they can't even probe and find out who they currently have working for them, like this pedofile nutcase"!!!

Yeah, I feel REAL confident in my government's ability to protect the men, women, and childern of this country when they are obviously out to get their jollies off on your kids!!! :nope:

Agreed. It is sick. But Foley is no longer a congressman. Unlike democrats like Barney Frank, Kennedy, Clinton who commit crimes, Republicans empty the cabinet of their bad people. That's the difference. Foley is gone in shame. And Republicans are not trying to excuse his behavior. That's a major difference, and people see that. Democrats will continue to lose. This would only be a big deal if democrats weren't living in such a glass house. ;)

I see what you're getting at with Kennedy and Clinton, both proven to have committed their crimes, and your general point, but the worst thing Barney Frank ever did was fix some parking tickets for his boyfriend, and he was officially reprimanded for it in a democrat controlled HoR which is an entirely appropriate response for such a minor infraction. It's wrong to include him with those two when talking about how political parties handle the wrongs of their own.

Don't laugh. That could easily happen if the Democrats ever get off the "vote for us just because we're better than the Republicans" theme and come out with a positive plan to move forward and address the nations problems.

That imo is the main reason why they've steadily lost political power these last 12 years. People tend to see the two parties in pretty much the same light (ie: Damned lawyers, thieves and liars) so relying upon the comparison argument alone, without a positive message to go with it, is not enough to impress the voters into accepting all the baggage that goes with putting one or the other parties in power, and both do have baggage.

This has nothing to do with one's party affiliation. This case and all known past incidents are indicative of an illness that doesn't discriminate according to one's politics or one's profession. This is another shame and disgrace on all of our government representatives.

Maybe it's time to flush out a whole nest of too cozy politicians, from both parties.

For starters one could remove the president's right to pardon anyone from imprisonment. I do not see why it is fair that he can bypass the normal legislation processes.

Back to the original theme of this topic and current events.

This whole alleged Republican pedophile scandal is shaping up to be a poison pill for the Republican party and in particular the Republican leadership. It now looks like those within the leadership are trying to cover their own behinds and are beginning to blame each other. After this seedy affair I'd say that the GOP can kiss goodbye to the so-called "soccer mums voters" that they had won over.

A former Republican congressional aide is claiming that he informed Dennis Haster about Foley's "inappropriate behaviour" much earlier than Haster has admitted. As reported in this NYT article (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/05/washington/05hastert.html?hp&ex=1160107200&en=3240e4ee90c2cc51&ei=5094&partner=homepage):

Mr. Fordham’s assertion about early reports raised more questions about whether Mr. Hastert and his staff had failed to respond quickly and forcefully enough to multiple warnings about the conduct of Mr. Foley, the Florida Republican who resigned from the House on Friday after being confronted with sexually explicit messages he had sent to teenage pages.

The statement further clouded Mr. Hastert’s prospects of retaining his position as speaker as his party reached for a strategy to deal with a controversy that seems to have undermined its chances of keeping control of Congress on Election Day.

“I had more than one conversation with senior staff at the highest levels of the House of Representatives, asking them to intervene when I was informed of Mr. Foley’s inappropriate behavior,” Mr. Fordham said after resigning from Mr. Reynolds’s staff. “I have no congressman and no office to protect.”

And on the internal blame game and but covering within the Republican leadership the Republican Majority Whip has come out slamming his colleagues for their apparent innaction as indicated from this piece in the Washington Times (http://www.washtimes.com/national/20061005-123120-2264r.htm):

"I think I could have given some good advice here, which is you have to be curious, you have to ask all the questions you can think of," Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri said yesterday about his party's muted handling of "over-friendly" e-mails that Mr. Foley wrote to former congressional pages.

The parents of the 16-year-old boy who received the e-mails alerted congressional Republicans to the messages but said they didn't want to pursue the matter beyond ordering Mr. Foley to quit contacting their son.

"You absolutely can't decide not to look into activities because one individual's parents don't want you to," Mr. Blunt said of the decision by top Republicans not to investigate further.

And more details on the disgusting actions of a so-called "protector of children from sexual predators" as written back here in the London Times (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2387603,00.html):

Last night it emerged that he had internet sex with one boy before going to vote in the House.
NI_MPU('middle');

ABC News obtained a transcript from 2003 during which the politician and the high school student both appear to have orgasms while exchanging messages. Mr Foley added another twist to the story when his lawyer confirmed longstanding rumours that his client was gay and said he had been sexually abused by a clergyman at the age of 13 to 15. The lawyer insisted, however, that the congressman had never had any physical sexual contact with an underage male.

Dennis Hastert, the House Speaker and one of the party’s most powerful figures, is now fighting for his political life after the disclosure of evidence showing that he knew about inappropriate communication between the Congressman and pageboys almost a year ago.

The right-wing Washington Times, as well as some conservative radio talk show hosts, yesterday demanded that he resign — even as Mr Hastert’s aides embarked on a frantic ring-round of other Congressman who were asked to sign a letter of support.

Mr Hastert brushed aside any suggestion of resignation. But he has admitted that he “would have, could have, should have” done more to discipline Mr Foley when he first heard about the e-mails.

John Boehner, the House majority leader, appeared to pull the rug from under Mr Hastert when said that the incident had happened on the Speaker’s watch and that he had assured him months ago that the matter had been taken care of it. Mr Boehner also appeared to write off the chances of Republicans holding Mr Foley’s Florida seat in mid-term elections on November 7. The Democrats need 15 net gains to take control of the House and six to take over the Senate.

The Titanic is slowly starting to sink and it looks like some Republicans are starting to clamour for the liferafts. If the Republicans loose control of both the Senate and House then Dennis Hastert will be to blame along with of course the now disgraced Foley.

Oh, just the small itty bitty question of an alleged coverup orchestrated by the Republican leadership that if proven will probably sink the Republicans in the November elections. And even if it isn't proven to be so, just the mere impression or suggestion within the publics mindset could still result in the Democrats winning both the Senate and the House. I'm not saying that most past Republican voters will vote Democrat. I do however think that many simply will not turn out to vote at all in protest and disgust of the events that appear to be transpiring on Capital Hill.

This scandal doesn't look like going away any time soon. Every day we here more and more sordid details of Foley's actions. Every day we see more Republicans distancing themselves from colleagues and/or pointing the finger at someone else. The House Ethics committee still has yet to proceed with it's investigation. The FBI are also looking into possible criminal activity whilst I think it would be a fair bet that every journalist in Washington and further affield are looking to dig up more evidence of what is becoming an ever growing and widening political scandal.

Of course, but it has every thing to do with the specific political party involved in the scandal at this current time. And this time it is the Republican party with elections a month away. That's just the reality of politics. You may not like it but bad luck that's how it is. You can go back 5,10, or 20 years ago to past scandels by Democrat, Republican, or Independant and it's going to make diddly squat of a difference with voters on the day. As I said, it will be the disenfranchised Republican voters who won't turn out at the booths on election day which will do the most harm to the Republicans this November.

ABC ONLINE GLITCH LEADS TO IDENTITY OF FOLEY ACCUSER

FAMOUS IM EXCHANGE WAS WITH 18 YEAR OLD

**UPDATE Thu Oct 05 2006 11:54:13 ET

A posting on ABCNEWS.COM of an unredacted instant message sessions between Rep. Mark Foley and a former congressional page has exposed the identity of the now 21 year-old accuser.

The website PASSIONATE AMERICA detailed the startling exposure late Wednesday.

MORE

The PASSIONATE AMERICA webmaster tells the OKLAHOMAN (http://www.newsok.com/article/2951137/) that "he stumbled onto the former page's AOL screen name when looking at transcripts of the instant messages on ABC's Web site on Saturday. He said he typed a slightly-different Web address into his browser and found a version of the transcript with the screen name.

The AOL name of the young man was kept unredacted and housed on ABCNEWS.COM servers for 5 days!

The information could be publicly accessed.

ABC explains in a statement: "On Friday, ABC News published instant messages between a former page and Congressman Foley with the IM screen name of the teenage victim redacted. Immediately, we discovered that in one instance, the screen name of the teen on one IM exchange had not been properly redacted. ABC News immediately took down the posting [version 1], redacted the screen name and re-published the posting [version 2]. We certainly believed that we had taken care of the issue quickly. Last evening, after an inquiry from Matt Drudge, it came to our attention that a blogger was able to access our deleted file [version 1] by typing in a slightly modified web address. To be clear, no one visiting our website would have simply stumbled on the old version."

SEX CHAT WAS WITH 18 YEAR OLD

On Tuesday ABC news released a high-impact instant message exchange between Foley and, as ABC explained, a young man "under the age of 18."

ABC headlined the story: "New Foley Instant Messages; Had Internet Sex While Awaiting House Vote"But upon reviewing the records, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, the young man was in fact over the age of 18 at the time of the exchange.

A network source explains, messages with the young man and disgraced former Congressman Foley took place before and after the 18th birthday.

It doesn't matter! Mark Foley has been caught IMing to "Several" minors who were under the age of 18 at the time.

From the ABC website!

"ABC News now has obtained 52 separate instant message exchanges, which former pages say were sent by Foley, using the screen name Maf54, to two different boys who began their exchanges with Foley at the age of 16 and 17, and continued through the age of 18." - ABC

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/new_foley_insta.html

The 16 and 17 year olds are still minors. And who knows for sure if there weren't more. I'm sure more will surface.

What disgusts me the most, is that "Several" rebublican HIGH Ranking officials knew about this and tried to cover it up so that it wouldn't hurt their party. What about the kids? Obviously they thought their party was more important than the safety and well being of the childern this sicko was IMing. They should be locked up right along with Foley.

I hope something surfaces that Bush knew something about this. I will LMAO if he did. That would be "oh - so - awesome" and it would definitely be IMPEACHMENT time for Herr Bush!
