View Full Version : help game bug - uncontroled decent

I know that this is a stock game bug but I was hoping that someone out there might know how to make it happen less often.

Whenever I load a saved game I am always decending to the bottom at 50 knots, the watch crew is still on deck and all is well with the boat (except for the unrecoverable decent to crush depth):damn: :damn: :damn:

I know that this is a stock bug, that usually happens when you save submerged. However for me it is an all the time thing, I save the game with the boat on the surface, with no contacts in sight or in hydrophone range, and I have gotten into the habbit of saving each game 3 to 5 times in the hope that one of them will work. This problem has gotten progressivily worse over time going from 1 time in 20, to now every time and every save. I have reloaded sveral times, replaced mods, changed mods, loaded mods one at a time to see if any of them are the problem, and removed all mods, but nothing I have done helps. I am really at wits end with this problem.:damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:

This is a fun sim and I really enjoy playing it but this bug is wareing me out and pissing me off.

Has anyone had any luck fixing this or at least any suggestions to cut down on the number of times tha it happens, I am open to any suggestions at this point.

Thanks in advance
MARK

Have you patched the game up? I remember the first version of the game had a problem with the watch crew being out underwater after loading from a save.

Sounds like you need a fresh install.

The recipy for that should be stickied by the way. :rotfl: I feel we are writing Uninstall + delete game folder + delete/move my documents sh3 folder + install+ 1.4B alot.

As it seems to me, reinstall is the cure for most problems... I did it 3 times so far

Tried all of that, rolled back sh3 commander and even tryed uninstalling sh3 commander and not reinstalling it, removed all files and folders, cleaned the registry of all referanced to sh3, ran crap cleaner to find and remove all hidden traces of the game, defraged the drive to over write old file locations, reinstalled, and patched.

I have done this over and over agian. Still no fix for this problem and no joy. I only get about 5 starts ups of the program before file errors creep in and I have to reload. I spend an hour every Sunday night reloading, repatching and remoding. but no matter what I do the boat still is in free fall every time I load up a save that is not in base:damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn:

Any fresh ideas would be helpful

Well to prevent, Do not Save during the patrol!

its the only help we can give you,

its a crappy bug that appears in some subsimmers sh3 game.

Isn't that strange! Same copy of a game, same patch, same mod and some games react very differently. And some even on a clean install of Win. I once heard a tale, that someone wanted to play a game so muc, that after this old computer gave him probelms, he went and bought a new one, did a fresh install on wins and the game and again he had problems. I forgot the ending.

For your problems I suggest,... You don't save. Sorry I'm also dry on this one :damn:

Best of luck and pray you don't get sinked.

Hi MARK,
Some of the members over at Wolves at War have reported this problem too, occasionally. Following quite a bit of debate, it appears that this problem happens a LOT more often if you are using SH3 Weather program, together with SH3 Commander. I can't remember exactly what was eventually recommended, but I'm sure that you will find something if you search these Forums for any threads relating to SH3Weather.
(Don't get me wrong...SH3 Weather is a cool program! I used to use it myself, but stopped when I got the "100 metre plummet" happening a little too often. Hasn't occurred since!)

Hope this helps!
