A new update of the Enigma simulator is available on my Cipher Machines and Cryptology (http://users.telenet.be/d.rijmenants/en/enigmasim.htm) website. Version 6.0 now incorporates a practical menu, different key settings can be saved and loaded in this update and a new window gives a quick view on the current machine settings.

This new features will make it much easier to use different machine settings to communicate with several friends, each with their own key settings.

I thought this was about Enigma Rising Tide.:)
I'll have to try this out.

This could be very cool...we could send coded messages on the forum using the Enigma simulator. For example:

Use default settings to decipher:

OPGND XHVWQ BLJAA NUNPD YPZJR WXWSE CONXP XLJKK PFEPC BJKPJ MQJDC RCTYO YEBEG ZIROZ FB

"THIS IS THE FIRST MESSAGE ENCODED FOR THE SUBSIM COM FORUMS USING THE ENIGMA SIMULATOR"

Well done, never decoded a code before. Very impressive. :know:

OK...apparently no one wanted to decode the last one...here's one that should be a little more fun, especially given the membership on this forum.

Once again, default settings:

OPCNR WNYHN NZPLM HTNEL UKTPK XSQRS KYHGZ IHUKW WXPQO CERGY JQJDI QKQUI UIWSN BSCKU AATOU LBDMP LRBAU EDPPU PDZLU MQFVU HSMWM ZCAQL RBWCY GRJNR GNXAU TXQER IGGME JFRHR YODNX YFHPX ILBJ

Have fun!

No one wanted to decode them? Oh well. I would have had a go sooner but my internet was off line. (well done BT) Anyhow had fun decoding them and they both read as follows.

“IN MEMORY OF THE BUMP THREAD: BUMP”

“THESE ARE THE VOYAGES OF THE STARSHIP ENTERPRISE ITS CONTINUING MISSION TO EXPLORE STRANGE NEW WORLDS TO SEEK OUT NEW LIFE AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS TO BOLDLY GO WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE”

Congrats Subsim On Seventeenthousand Skippers

Edit: Ok since I've been decoding it's high time I sent back a report to HQ. HQ of course being subsim. Now it might be a hard one to put together as there are some names in the message with odd spelling. Also there is the use of a comma (,) that is denoted with the letter 'y'

I know that this thread has been dead for a while, but I'm wondering if anyone wants to take a crack at decoding this (You need to do more than one step!):

I'm still trying to figure it out with the default settings, coding is easy, decoding is tricky for me at th emoment but once I figure it out, i'll have fun with this for sure

so...ermm....how do I decode message?

JSLTIGER

Translate the Morse Code to Enigma input (i.e. letters) and then run it through the Enigma machine.

Not yours... I'm talking about using that software. And I figured it out. The wheel has to start off from right spot.

Yeah, I just figured that out too, the rotors have to be in the same place when you orginally coded the message, or something to that effect. :know:

Not the first message, we decoded enigma messages on the old board also, but that was over a year ago. :D
