I hope SH4 has a deep range of Tokyo Rose broadcasts, it would really add to the atmosphere to hear the American music and taunts from Rose when charging the batteries at night... :yep:

It would be great to hear the correct broadcasts for events that happen in the timeline of the game.
A rose by any other name.....
it certainly would lift the game into something out of the ordinary to be able to tune in every game day/night to a seperate broadcast containg the rose comments and the music..you can buy dvds full of her broadcasts so the recordings are available..(dunno what the copyright situation is)
hell can you imagine what they could do with a bit of imagination???
get a half decent text to voice program included with a reasonable fascimile of tokyo rose's voice ...and she will be able to pass comment not only on your particular boat (naming it and even your crew perhaps ) but she can comment on your sinkings and so forth...that would be such a magnificent and dynamic detail ..tuning in at a certain time each day and hearing this ..that i reckon it would become a hot favourite moment in the gameplay
i've got a small text to voice program that has a japanese womans voice reading in english..and it sounds EXACTLY like tokyo rose..or good enough for a game/sim anyway..she sounded vaguely robotic to start with in real life so it works...
all they need to do then is dump some of the game info into a text file and bingo instant dynamic tokyo rose braodcasts on the fly..include some randomly chosen period music files ..and historic events for her to comment on according to the date and blam a HUGELY atmospheric and very addictive i'd dare say element to the game ..
sadly this is exactly the sort of wonderful detailing that modern game devs jus can't be bothered with AFAIK
too busy making hollywood "event cams"

Funny thing is the captured American major who coached and wrote for the "Tokyo Roses" was promoted after the war. When you look at it with hindsight you kinda get the inference that they were all hoodwinking their Japanese captors by broadcasting in precisely the sort of way that would get the average American fighting male's blood up...not demoralize him. What they were doing was too subtle for the Japanese to catch since most of them had no cultural knowledge of America. Unfortunately for Mrs. D'Aquino it worked too well. Some still wanted blood when the war was over and she was the one foolish enough to step forward when American reporters started offering money to speak to "Tokyo Rose".

It would be nice to have the "Tokyo Rose" option in the configuration page, which would add a recording in between songs.
I've always figured she was grabbed for her ability to speak english very clearly. Whether she was a "traitor" or not, I am unsure. However, I am absolutely sure it was a rough situation to be in.
