Trying to assign some reasonable crew titles to my officers and men on my VIIb, such as:
Leitender Ingenieur - Chief Engineer - Most Senior Bootsmann with Mechanics Qualification
Oberingenieurmaat - Next in line Bootsmann
Ingenieurmaat - The rest of the Bootsmann (Bootsmennen) assigned
Wachsoffizieren - Watch Officer - senior officer with watch qualification
Obersteuermann - Navigation Officer - senior officer with helm qualification
Obersteuermannsmaat - Bootsman with helm qualification
Steuermannsmaat - the other bootsmann
Oberfunkmeister / Funkmeister / Funkmaat- radio man
Waffensoffizieren / Obermechaniker / Mechanikermaat- Torpedo/artillery qualification
Basically, I have 5 officers and 14 bootsmann - what titles would they have. This just seemed like a good idea for added fun, but I'm stuck. I could make things up using reasonable logic of German and the ranks I know but I thought the forum would surely have someone with this at their fingertips. FYI - I got most of these from uboat.net.
