It is with great sadness that I report the loss of U-575 with all hands in Aug 1944. Herr Kaluen Janos Ferenzy was a valiant but sometimes reckless captain who had over 200,000 tons to his credit.
During his final patrol u-575 crept in to the path of an in-bound convoy for Briton in grid square AM51. Thinking he had brought his boot into position undetected, Herr Ferenzy raised his scope to identify targets. Unbeknowst to him, his scope was picked up on radar by HMS Hesperus who drove in for a dc attack. The first attack managed to heavilly damage u-575. HMS Hesperus called in support from a nearby corvet and during a 3 hour game of cat and mouse managed to sink u-575. To his credit Herr Ferenzy was able to sink a LIberty Cargo before being sent to the bottom in this action. He will be remembered.
All credit to this sinking goes to Drifter for his realism mod and the escort AI improvement that goes with it.:damn:
Damn you Drifter and the fact that I must now be smart when attacking convoys:rotfl: The old tactic of surfacing in the middle of the convoy just dont work anymore.
