Any of you guys know a good freeware or shareware RAW to TIFF convertor. I'm asking as the one that Fuji ship with their RAW capable cameras isn't that good.

Also it seems each company has its own RAW standard and that can vary between cameras

I downloaded and installed google's Picassa but at the moment it doesn't handle Fuji RAW files (.RAF) from the Fuji S5600 which I have. So I can either use Fuji one, or find a another one.

Any pointers?

Irfanview can read RAF files.

That's the crux of the matter, right there. I have a Canon Rebel, and their program will batch export a directory to TIFF. Then I usually stuff that into Paint Shop Pro for conversion and cropping.

Rawstudio (http://rawstudio.org/compatibility.php) is basically the only "open" thing available. It nails the Canon CR2 formats (there's about 3 or 4 different CR2 formats), and most of the Minolta/Konica raw. There's only one Fuji listed, but it might very well be that Fuji has only had one format of "raw" since they got into digital cameras.

There are Photoshop plugins that can handle a bunch of different formats. There's some Adobe "raw" program that is made for photo work.

Some cameras will ship with a program that will convert your raw images over to something workable like TIF or BMP. You might take a look at the Fuji stuff.

Nah Fuji have differents ones too.

I use the Finepix viewer which can see teh RAW (.RAF) and then I save as a TIFF.
