Hey I have a question. I just bought a new Laptop so I could take SHIII with me on the road. But I notice that the watch crew have no Bionoculars. I'm running the NYGM mod but it's that way with a stock install also. That's the only thing screwed in the whole game. No big deal just annoying. Thanks CH.

Have you updated your graphic card's (or chipset's or whatever it is in a laptop) drivers to the latest ones? And I think that a little more info about the laptop's specs could help in troubleshooting the problem... if the problem is hardware/driver-based that is.

I also have a laptop. I run the stock game with the 1.4b patch, Grey Wolves and SH3 Commander; and the game works great on my laptop. I also use FSautoStart which frees up some memory.

However, there are limitations with a laptop I guess. I recently tried the 16k light option with Grey Wolves and it slowed down my computer so much that it was unplayable. Went back to the stock Grey Wolves and all is fine.

Note: if you ever need to do a reinstall, it is necessary to remove a lot of leftover directories and files that remain after you do the uninstall. Do a search for the UBI/SH3 directory under programs and the SH3 directory under My Documents, then remove them. It's also good to use a program like "Crap Cleaner" after you do the uninstall. You'd be surprised how many files hang around after an uninstall. Crap Cleaner is great for cleaning the unnecessary junk from the harddrive. Just do a Google search and you'll find a free download. Then you can reinstall everything from scratch and there'll be no conflicts.

I also have no binoculars on my laptop, and it has been like this since the stock game instalment, so it isn't mod related.

Oh darn, wait... I just realized that I made an incredibly stupid goof... I'll check and later report.

Never mind, the problem is fixed... I had simply forgoten to turn the Video Card back on after turning it off previously to conserve power
