Finally playing Gray Wolfs mod.w/Subsim's DVD files to prevent download corruption, suspected in 56K previous attempted installs. I am experiencing several bugs,if you will, let discussion enlighten please.

#1 At times bridge crew mans it's station, submerged, way beyond 7m? I believe this may be caused by damage mod.incorporation.

#2 this patrol, assigned grid AL38,after patrolling 24hrs.,orders show incomplete.so I send report, report indicates our location as AL 6,there is no AL 6,& we are in grid AL38 & elapsed time 24+hrs.?

#3 Tube doors,If you do not hear them run, I don't always get printed conformation that they are open. Must ck.WO.console to ck. switch position.Previously, all was normal, printed conformation always,Is this GW.,or bug never had these happenings before in 100+patrols?

Other wise,GW.not to bad, there's many improvements. I haven't passed judgment on the spider web/bearing overlay on my TDC.screen, old one,I was use to, fit well.

You know, the overlay on the TDC really bothered me at first, too.

But now that I am used to it I really like it.

I'm wondering,if the spider web will make a convoy attack more confusing to pick targets, seeing Through the overlay magnification in TDC.screen. 5th GW patrol Jan. 1940,no convoys encountered yet.

A GW. dev. got any feedback on my three glitches ? GW.only mod.installed

I also have noticed that text confirmation on tubes opening isn't always there.

Me too, I don't like the spider web thing, it makes the nav-map all cluttered up, an I even had it cause slow downs on my computer on some occasions... weird.

I have only ever experienced underwater crew as part of the stock save bug, where releoading a game while submerged will result in the bridge being manned (the whole uboat being treated as surfaced until an new depth is ordered).

Same here. What the heck is the "Spider Web"?

point of order...

...by "spider web thing", are you guys referring to the zoomed in pic of the boat surrounded by the compass and concentric range rings?

Crew pop up on bridge when depth goes over the submerged depth stated on .cfg files.
And that the crew literally Pops in nanosecond to bridge causes them to many times come there before sub is up from to the surface.
If there should be improvement then the delay time would be nice to have on crew entering the bridge one by one in few times delay (what it takes time to climb the ladder)

Tube doors confirmation need the weapon officer to be on his station.

Spider web nav view is awesome. I use it all the time when setting up 300-500 meter 90 degree shots on shipping.

Just use a ruler to plot a line along the ship's course, get within 300-500 meters of that line and there's no way in hell you miss unless it's a DD or something that can jump instantly to 25 knots instantly.

Spider Web Clarification: nav.map magnifications, are useful to line up shots, but TDC.screens smaller map space, does not allow big picture viewing,to see escorts inbound hunting your ass,or bearing to next target without changing magnifications which are difficult to read. IMHO.the original ranging tool was more useful in TDC.screens, less cluttered &,better observation

Sailed all over grid AL38,& surrounding grids, sending status reports to verify position AM grids, were correct, all three Al grids AL38=AL06,AL03=AL2114882,
AL36=AL6,seems BDU's grid maps,need rework:rotfl: :doh:

ah so. I never use the F6 screen, myself, I use Sale U-999's TDC mod. His mod puts all the dials from the F6 screen on a slide-out while using the UZO or attack scope...so you don't have to switch back and forth between screens. All target acquisition calcs are made with pencil and paper and/or 5090 maneuvering board.

tnx for the clarification,

Well, I don't like the spyder web thing on the navmap... and It's not just a matter of taste, I get a noticeable drop in frame rates whenever I zoom enough for that thing to pop-up. Can anyone tell me what file I need to delete in order to get rid of it?

As a matter of fact, I'm feeling a bit frisky... can any one tell me how I can completely delete my sub icon from the nav-map? I want to have a go at some manual navigation (don't worry, I won't get lost, I'll just use ctrl-click on the nav-map from time to time to simulate position updates from my navigator)

...barring the ability to remove the sub icon, what I've been doing is zoom-in to 25km scale after leaving port, that way I never see or get influenced by surrounding topography...and I never use the way-point tool...at the beginning of a mission I layout a course, jot down the positions of future course changes, then erase the courses from the map. I follow my course plan using Distance = Speed x Time formula...just free-lance sailing.

The only time I zoom-out is when the weather (wx) is good enough to support simulated sextant use just to obtain a noon fix.

You'll find that wx plays an important part to navigation using this method due to DRIFT. It simulates the drift and set of wind & current. Fascinating.

The bug where the crew stays on deck even when submerged was present in vanilla version and not a GW bug.

As to the other questons, I have yet to experience any of those in any version:hmm:

That is an excellent suggestion, and I have even tried it a couple of times, however, not being able to zoom out on the navmap means that you'll miss all those radio contact reports that don't actualy generate a radio message, but rather just pop-up magicaly on the nav-map from time to time (with vage info on speed and heading). Anyway, I think I'll post about this on a different thread so as to not clutter up this one.
