The latest Orwellian Nannystate nightmare for Steed to chew on. :D Not only do CCTV cameras in Britain watch you...they chastise you for bad behaviour.

Big Brother is shouting at you ! Very likely to attract a returned half brick these days or at least a two fingered salute.

But never fear the operators will be too busy steaming-up their screens watching the local talent so the broadcast comments will be the same as buildingworkers - Hey gorgeous ! Followed by every female within earshot turning her head. ;)

"Sir! You in the striped shirt! Stop picking your nose in public!"

I think it's great!

What would be really creepy would be a quote from one of the climax moments of 1984.

"Here's the candle to light you to bed, here comes the chopper to chop off your head."

Whereupon you are surrounded by gorilla-like guards wielding truncheons and the angry buzz of helicopters. :o

Read that article, honestly don't know whether or not it was more amusing or just plain creepy. But that is definitely freaky stuff straight of 1984. Yikes.

Probably wouldn't work in American cities. Crooks would simply steal the cameras.

And it is 1984 incarnate.

So when are they going to install my wall-screen?

Anybody remember the bit in 'demolition man' where Sly had to use the 'shells' to wipe his ass, so instead he swears lots and the uber big brother machine issued him with a load of paper tickets as fines for his bad language?:hmm:

As for the article.... jesus h christ....
Perhaps they could install them at Downing Street: "Attention, could the tosser at Number 10 please stop messing with the country?"

first create anti socail behaviour so extreme that ordinary citizens feel sufficiently threatened that they are likely to accept any soloution as long as it works....then introduce totalitarian techniques to solve the probem,,as they have been proven to work over and over again..(to a point) then you not only get to institute a totalitarian state every one thanks you for it ...war without end...news speak...talking lamp posts..it's not a nanny state- it's a mother in law state

I tell you now, i tell you: I wouldn't listen to such a Camera thing. No, heck, i would drive that bike even faster. I would even Pick that nose more. No Camera with voice can stop me! *Gets Revolutionary*

I never do anything criminal. And it is my right to offend! :p
I am a Commie in Nazi U-Boat Commander uniform, i'm meant to offend. My life is to Offend! :D

*Citizen Smith Theme in the Background*

Ignore those Cameras, or they Expand them! Stop the Talking Cameras! The Talkie-Cams must Burn!

I mean what should they be good for? And, what defines "Offence"?

If they are used as Countermeasure for Offence, the only thing these Cameras might say would be...

Would the man in the Nazi Uniform Please Stop Hailing? Thank you!

Maybe it's time for STEED to get out the old pellet gun and do some camera sniping? That's what I would do anyways! What is this world coming to? This must be an idea Bush and Blair came up with to track Osama down or something? :nope:

Did any of the Brits here watch the start of the new series of Spooks?

Spot on, maybe it is already happening, one hopes MI5 would be on our side.

:huh:A ''starting place'' I dont care to take knowing of Anthony Bennett and Veritas:

'Kilroy-Silk colleague linked to ex-National Front leader'
Oliver Burkeman. The Guardian -Thursday February 3, 2005

'A key member of Robert Kilroy-Silk's new political party, Veritas, co-founded an organisation with a former chairman of the National Front**, the Guardian has learned. Anthony Bennett, whose name appears in the Electoral Commission's database as the official leader of Mr Kilroy-Silk's party Veritas, was also fired from the UK Independence party ! '

Nigel Farage, Ukip's leader in the European parliament, said: "Tony Bennett is an energetic campaigner, with some
'' extremely eccentric and individualistic views."

General Elaction 2005 Harlow:
Bill Rammell Labour 16453 votes Elected.
Anthony Bennett Veritas 941

'Kilroy quits as leader of Veritas - Mr Kilroy-Silk says his party must face the truth !
Ex-chat show host Robert Kilroy-Silk has quit as leader of Veritas just five months after founding the party.
The MEP, who was facing a challenge from disillusioned members, said it was clear from the general election
voters were content with the older parties.'

**NB.Far Right Party which some say is Neo-Nazi.

'Goodnight Andre Kostelanetz'' Marty Feldman. ;):D
