Mozilla has sent out an update to Firefox, designed to address seven security flaws in the open-source Web browser. Firefox 1.5.0.7, released Thursday, tackles a problem that lets outsiders run code remotely and aims to improve the product's stability.

Of the seven vulnerabilities fixed, four are rated "critical" by Mozilla. The new browser version addresses the circumvention of security via an RSA signature forgery flaw, as well as cross-site scripting vulnerabilities. In addition, it patches a JavaScript regular expression heap corruption issue and a memory corruption issue that could lead to the execution of code.

While the update addressed four critical flaws, it was less extensive than one released in July that contained fixes for seven flaws.

The release of Firefox 1.5.0.7 comes alongside the online publication of exploits to attack Microsoft's Internet Explorer. The 5.01 and 6 versions of the Web browser, running on all current versions of the Windows operating system, are affected.

Where can I get the new version of Firefox from,I am too lazy to look!Just in case you didn't know, if you click on the strobe(round circle) right under the "X" to close the window, you will go directly to mozilla's homepage. :D

The last coulple of versions of FF have had an auto update facility though which is quite handy. And you can even change the URL of that strobe.

Just type in the address bar these next words as is: about:config

Once you press ENTER, you will now see the guts of Firefox,
now in the space where it says Filter, type in: throbber

Now once you see something like this: browser.throbber.url
Double click it, you can now change the URL, of course its way to handy to keep it as is, it was just to let you see the power of Firefox.

Hmm, usually I don't have to look for it. Firefox just downloads it automatically for me.

Problem for me is since this update firefox has become a right pain to use. weird glitches happen, flicking of the screen while in some sites and not all images show up in websites (subsim is one of them) even tho i have that enabled. Anyone with this update have the same problems. Running windows Media Xp pro and window 2k happens on both OS's.

maybe... had some similar issued with images like you mention when hosting an image at imageshack for use on another forum. But this could be because I was posting from work at the time??
