hi all,

I just reinstalled SH3 and installed the grey wolves mod pack on top. Of course I ran into a couple of problems:
1) I made an error in the installation selection window, and now every ship is named 'contact' This sucks for my newbie brain which can't contain every ships' ID. How do I turn this feature off and get the ships' names back?
2) Ships sink far more slowly and are harder to sink too. All very cool according to the readme that comes in the documentation directory. But how the heck do I find out where to hit the buggers in order to make them go blub blub?

In kind regard, schurem

Welcome Aboard.

1. Just reinstall GW 1.1a (in port) and select the correct options.

2. Aim at different sections. If using deckgun, aim for the waterline.

Hope this helps.

Even the small merchants don't seem to sink after a single torp. Is there a special trick, or should i be expecting to use multiple shots per kill now?

Aim for a spot just forward of the stacks. Then aim for the stern. With the small ones I usally hit them with a torp and finish them with the deckgun or use the deckgun and save the fish for bigger targets.

GW uses the NYGM damage model so it take longer for the ship to sink. When using the deck gun aim below the waterline and at different parts of the ship.
The ship will now rarely explode like you have just set of a atom bomb when it gets hit by a torpedo. It will tend to sink as if it is taking more and more water and will eventually sink to the bottom.
The trick is to take time and aim your torps at differnt parts of the ship.
Hope this helps.
