Ahoy Maties :arrgh!:

I completed my first 2 patrols of my new Career in the trusty Type IIA, then Upgraded to the Type VII, Dec 2 1939, After dowing 2 C2 cargo's I decided to sneak into Loch Ewe, Because accoring to the spoilers there would be 2 BB's in port:lol: .

Well sure enough, there were, After sneaking past 3 DD's that seemed to circle me like sharks, at max 32 TC, (which really by the way, wears out your crew so much you have to keep rotaing every minute) I took the straight up the middle approach. I didnt want to take the north 'channel' because Ive read on here before that there were subnets there. Sure enough, no matter how carefull I was I was detected by a DD, about 3km from the Nelson BB, He made 2 Unsucessful depth charge runs on me, slightly damaging my FWD Deck, The he kindly set himself 400m directly behind me at 180 deg. :rotfl: Stern Torp set a med speed 3m depth, by the time it got to the DD it caught him just fwd of his props, DD sunk :D

Ok so im free to position myself to attack the Nelson, hes sattionary at an awkard angle, so I creep up to 352 m at as close to 90 deg as I can get my sub, hard to turn at ahead slow at PD, a lot of fwd slow, back slow, Like parallel parking a station wagon. So I set up and aim under the fwd gun turret, the first one hits and the nelson statrs to accelerate, the second one hit and BOOM, big explosion, I hit something critical there:up: . 36000 tons. So I performed a Trick I learned from an earlier career at Scapa. There are 2 DD's looking for me so I postion myself with the observation scope as close as possible to the Nelson which is breaking up underwater. (I have free view disabled, I want the renown, 66% realism)

So they cant here me or ping me because im next to the wreckage. TC to 128 for about 4 hrs to let them cool off, its dusk now. I time the C class DD which is back to patrolling, I jump his gap and posiiont myself to attack the revenge which is docked. Only have 3 torps left and one of them is a stern which needs to be loaded. Really difficult to get the min 300m on this attack because of where it is docked A low of fwd slow, back slow here and then,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I get called into work, which is were Im at right now.:nope: Can't wait to finish this shift and go home and finish this attack.

So I might as well ask you guys, there are 2 other DD'S docked here also, If I surface next to them can I take them out with my deck gun or will they fire back. I was just wondering because Ive never seen a DD docked before. So are they Unmanned? or will they fire on me if I surface near them?

So no one knows about DD's that are docked? Will they fire?

They'll fire but I don't think they come undocked and chase after you.

ok thanks, thats good to know, I think if I get too close to them they can't hit me right?

They can hit you with deck gun fire, but I don't think they come undocked and chase you down with Depth Charges and Hedgehogs though! I could be wrong, but I haven't witnessed them come undocked. NOTE: Docked doesn't mean anchored in the harbor though. Somtimes the enemy DDs are anchored in the harbor and THEY WILL chase after you if you are spotted. It's the DDs and other ships docked and tied up to the piers that don't!

Heh. With my 1st Flotilla guy (Type IIA) I was going to try and sneak into Loch Ewe w/100% realism. I was going to try and dodge the mines while looking through the observation periscope, underwater, during the day until I hit a subnet. Then I'd wait for night to dolphin over that net...then be very, very careful because there are probably more nets. Get in, hit that Nelson below the middle forward turret at 6 meters depth (BOOM!!!), and then get out. But...TWO BBs? Hmmm....:hmm:

Then all his "saves" disappeared from his career, and I'm not bothering w/the career mode, anymore. Or do a fresh install. Whatever.
