Steed, have you heard of a Pattie [and chips] ? Don't have them up here and I really miss them; if I ever get back to my Hometown and they still exist, that would be top of my 'to get' list ! :yep:

Looking at your post count, I can see you are pretty new here, so dont worry.

As a hint; If you come by a cool site about WWII uboats, I am 99% sure it has been posted here.

I think is a sort of fish cake. :hmm:

Steed, you must be located south of Watford; 2 slices of potato with a slice of fish in-between then thrown into the frier but they are the same shape and size as a fishcake. Head for Whitby :D

Don't tell me that's the best pace to buy them.

Kpt.Munson & Steed. You've really gone & done it now! For my past sins I married an American and came to live here in Rhode Island. Although it has occasionally crossed my mind (and was summarly ignored) your posts have me yearning again! I miss the following:

1) REAL fish & chips.
2) Beer. REAL beer; not this Bud or Anheuser lager stuff that passes for beer here
3) Haggis.
4) Cornish Pasties
5) Steak & Kidney Pudding, or pie
6) Bread. Any bread. Be it Warburtons, Mother's Pride or whatever. American loaves are possibly the worst in the world (and I've been around a bit)
7) Bacon that actually has the "eye" meat still in place. Bacon here has it removed. Think "Streaky Bacon" and that's as good as it gets.

The list is goes on, but now I need to visit a cookery website to drool over images of food & drink no longer available! On the other hand, of course, I could go and do myself a nice thick steak. Nah - I'd rather have a Steak Pud with chips. Anyone here want to mail me a care-package? :D

What was this thread about again? Oh yeah. Sorry for digressing from submarine warfare!

I think if you want to talk food best go to the general forum before we start seeing our fellow captains start to.
