Stupid people do sometimes become pilots!

Never land a jet downwind. There's just no reason. Second, never land any plane on a runway too short for rated performance. Furthermore, your really should not land on a runway that is close to your rated limit. Those performance charts leave little margin for error and assume optimal braking performance and no tailwind.

Third, why on earth did he try to power his way out of the water? That was just insane. If nothing else, have one of those boats hook up to the nose gear and let the boat tow you out. It looked like the boat was trying to do that and was making some headway.

Some of you might be offended by language... There are few words in here.... I mean, if you saw a jet turn itself into a "jet-boat" then I am sure you would be pretty shocked.....its a good video nontheless......

In other news...

A Beriev spokesman expressed "concern" at Cessna's latest venture, but expressed his confidence that the Russian manufacturer would continue to dominate the amphibious turbine market.

Adam, I don't think the pilot spooled up the motors in the water, I suspect one of the engines started up again (I think it is standard procedure to have the starters on during landing) automatically it was only one engine.

I didn't see much smoke. Mostly steam and water spray behind it. It could have been an interesting situation is the engine had ingested some water, but all that was shown here was behind the engine.

Interesting as I couldn't see a pilot in teh cockpit. Also if there I was a pilot and had spooled up the engines I'd have done both and steered the jet to the bank. It was actually floating in the water which suggests to me the jet engine only spooled up to idle which is still quite a bit.

Obviously he hasn't practised in FS2004 first...there you can learn just how to pull those things off :)
