Random Task-force

Today, I was sitting in my patrol grid at AN11, and my WO yelled out "ship spotted bering 110!" but then it said no visual contact, so I blew it off, and less then 10 mins later "ship spotted bering 112, medium range!!" and i thought it would jus be a lone merchant, so planned to ignore it, but then to my suprise when I turned the cam to have a look ,I spotted 6 DD's, 3 fiji's, a revenge and a nelson , pouring down at me at 30knts, quickly I crash dived, and when I came back up from 45 meteres to Periscope Depth, I couldnt see the enemy anymore.....I had lost them! If i had pd'd from the start I could have gotten a fiji or 2 (only had 3 torps), but alas, they got away, It was a rare, and awesome sight though!! :up: however this has been the 2nd nelson in 36 hrs (real time) to avoid me sinking it! the first went down but i never got "enemy unit destroyed" :damn:

That's cool. Often get radio messages about new convoys our taskforces, but it's always at least 6 hours away:damn:

This happened to me! I just stumbled on a multiple capital ship task force right out of the blue! But I kept my cool, went to periscope depth, worked into perfect attack position, which wasn't hard, since I was almost there already, and picked my target, a nice fat Nelson class battle ship! When He was in perfect position I fired a four tube salvo and got the hell out of Dodge! At first I thought I had missed, but four impacts and a Nelson going to the bottom cut scene latter, I was smilin'! And the cherry on top was the clean getaway!

I once hit a random TF somewhere near the Azores that was pretty small size-wise, but still mean...5 C-Class DD's and an Illustrious CV. Since the CV was too grand a target to let steam away, I launched a 4-tube salvo at her, all at about 1m below keel (glassy seas). All four hit, but she refused to go down! After wrestling with the DD's (and sinking two with the aft tubes:arrgh!:), I fired again at the CV...with the SAME RESULT! I had to keep dodging the &@*%ing C-classes and follow the CV...for half an hour...then it finally went down:up: Aaaaaand...then I got depth-charged by all 3 remaining DD's simultaneously...:nope:

I've been playing SH3 for a while now, but I've never seen a taskforce. Are there any areas where you can find a lot of them?

Install any version of the U-boat War ace mod--you will run into more than you care for:D .

Another good way to find them is using sh3 generator with stock or any of the mods--it will show thier realative location on the nav map. just sail to that general area marked on the map and your bound to run into it.
