I think I saw a thread here where someone spelled out the proper method of outfitting and replenishing your boat between patrols so the next patrol isn't so far into the future. I did a search but can't find it. I'm using the GW SuperMod if that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

There's a setting within SH3 Commander to do that automatically, or you can try the following:
Patrol Start Date
You can modify the Basic.cfg in Ubisoft/Silent Hunter3/data/Cfg folder. The line NbDaysInBase=31, I changed to NbDaysInBase=42. This isn't necessary, but apparently it makes the time spent in base more clearly reflect historical realities or so I've read.
Or
My Documents/SH3/data/Cfg/Careers/"Your Capt. Name" and found the Patrols.cfg (not patrols_0.cfg). Under the [PATROLS 000] (or your last patrol) section I went to the end times and changed em to: EndYear=1939 EndMonth=10 EndDay=20 (ie Oct. 20th, 1939)

The defualt time spent in port is 28 days
Any repairs and upgrades will extend that time
As posted above you can set variables days between patrols with SH3commander
though I am not sure whether repairs and upgrades would be added to this

in the profile or data text (I am doing this from memory) foudn in My Documents and in the game folder find the code that says "time in port = 28" to whatever you want

I use SH3 Commander's 'Variable' option. I once had a type II go back out after just 5 days. I can't speak to repair times, as I haven't had any damage since I started using it, but I'll bet it's there.

Thanks...I'll check out SH3 Commander. I thought it was basically a program to tweak the crew but I guess it does much more.

I suppose you could change the time in port if you come back all OK keep it on 28 days. If you come back all banged up just take a good guess and change the days, don't forget you will have to keep an eye on the situation.

You can't imagine. It lets you choose wave height, gun reload rates, randomizes your gramaphone tracks, lets you organize almost anything by date (so new things appear when they're supposed to), gives you the option of starting with a boat number that actually belongs to that flotilla at that date, gives names to the ships you sink, supplies a random database of more than a billion possible names for your crewmen, allows you to award medals and promotions at your discretion, kills or transfers crewmen at random (D'oh!), allows you to start with crewmen who are not green (they may have experience/patrols under their belts already)...and so much more. I'm sure someone will start listing things I've forgotten.

2.6 also recognise when you are at a milkcow\resupply and sets days in base to one for those occasions also has the random damage\malfunctions to simulate espionage etc

Yep, SH3Cmdr R2.6 will automatically recognise and change the days in base value to 1 when docked at any non-home port.
One exception though, and that is if you have damage.
Basically, regardless of where you dock, SH3 will fully repair you. When developing this feature, I just couldn't accept forcing a one day turnaround if the player had damage that SH3 was going to fix anyway. So, the one day in base is the minimum. Added to that is the usual time that it takes to repair any damage. Yes, perhaps not reflective of history, but consistent with SH3.

Not being able to play currently I was unaware of the 'automatic 1-day' feature. That is great! One more thing to look forward to.

Hehe, don't worry, I had to re-check the source code myself! ;)
