View Full Version : Camera Bounces in War Ace

I just installed War Ace Campaign, along with Uboat War Ace 2 using the JSGME enabler. My problem is that when I go to use the External Camera using the Comma & Period keys (not the Free Camera, I never use it), The camera starts to bounce up & down uncontrollably. I want to take Screeines, but imposible with this happening.

I've seen this once before, with stock game, after installing the Camera Mod. I removed it, and not bouncing. But I don't have it installed this time. Just War Ace stuff and small mods (emblems, Tuddleys engine mod, Pascals dials & War Medals etc...).

The Camera also when turned left or right tilts about 45 degrees . I'm just wondering if someone has seen this before, and what to do to correct it.

Might have to put stock camera files in JSGME to overwrite Modded files, but dont know what files they are and where they are in SH3 Data files.

Sorry I can't help, but I have the same problem with GW installed; only happens in ports though. If I save and exit, then reload, camera returns to normal.

The Bouncing Camera Bug.
This Bug I reported to the SH3 community the same day that the new 1.4b patch came out. Yep its from the patch, its an introduced STOCK Bug from 1.4b. This happens as soon as ANY sub sensor detects a LAND unit of any type. Ubisoft introduced the "Select Submarine" feature to the "Next Target" camera in 1.4b, in doing so it broke the damn thing as far as land units go. This may never be fixed, but it can be managed.

The 2 main sensor's that cause this bug are the Perisope sensor (both types) and the U-Boat AI Crew Visual sensor. there is a third but it seldom happens and thats the radar sensor in Fog/Storm conditions. The way to manage this bug is, as soon as any land unit is detected, submerge the boat and make sure the periscopes are lowered, then wait until the Navmap no longer shows the land units. Now and only now can you use the "Next Target" camera. Bug managed.

If you think about this for a moment. Most ppl claim to be realisim nutters, if this is so then the "Next Target" camera would be off, no bug. If however they are not true realisim nutters and have the "Next Target" camera on, then in Ports I would recommend the "Free Camera" over the "Next Target" camera. The bug will not appear with the "Free Camera" (F12 I think it is, the eye icon bottom left on nav panel). But the best way to experiance, in my opinion, the HT mods is from your own conning tower, sailing out to sea at 1xTC. Still no bug. Now if ppl realy wanted to be realisim nutters to the fullest extent of the term, they would only depart at night and then as soon as the sub has cleared the docks/port the sub should by rights submerge (this was done so as to minimize the amount of information the French resistance gave the British about sub movements). Navigation would be done by the reliable charts from BDU and small quick looks from the Scope. Inbetween these looks the bug is still not present. The silly part is, that if 1 did all the above, you would never see much in your own home port! It all comes down to how ppl ultimately play the game. We cant control that, but we can inform them of "How Best Too" in Ports or when Land units are present.
