Dont use it so cant help but thats the best place to go

Go into silent running then drop your speed to 1 or 2 KTS. Do not make sharp turns and only increase speed when the DC's are exploding then drop your speed back to 1 or 2 KTS. Even doing this will usually not get you loose from them for several hours, so be prepared to stay down for awhile.

Dd's in NYGM are tough bastards!
Do as you have been advised above-go silent at all times,and when DC's are blowing up ,make hard turns to port or starboard.
If you are running out of battery power or CO2 level is to high,you can make one last try... go at periscope depth and get a lock at the DD.Make a void solution for front torps and rear torps,set them to fast if possible ,lowest depth possible ,just enter distance in the F6 screen (so they just go in a str8 line) ,open all your tubes,see when the DD exits it's attack run and starts to circle around you ,wait untill he is at an about 90 degree angle from your bow or aft ,fire one torpedo,and pray it hits him.One hit is usually enough to scare off lone DD's and in most cases even sink them.If you are in a deep area,just go down to the sea-floor ,settle there,and wait for the DD to run out of ammo or get bored:D

no pinging /no depth charges left dd's just keep going overhead there is no way out of this if there are 2 dd --with just one you may stand a chance silent run till your blue in the face wont help-----i can see for late 1940 and later but before then kinda ridulas-------------i did a reinstall if it is part of nygm i may just dump that mod:down:
